🚨 We need your help in Inverness 🚨
Demand for our services across the Highlands is growing - and we’re now looking for a permanent base in Inverness to better support local people to stay independent and safe on the road. At DriveAbility Scotland, we support individuals to regain or maintain their driving independence through specialist, person-centred assessment and training.

Our services include:

🚗 Driving assessments (Occupational Therapist + Driving Assessor)

🧭 Guidance on wider mobility options to support independence

📍 What we’re looking for in Inverness:

✔️ 2–3 small office spaces

✔️ Accessible premises

✔️ Parking suitable for assessment vehicles

We know many charities, community organisations, and businesses have underused or available space - and we’d love to explore whether we could be a fit.

• Reduced long-distance travel for clients

• More people gaining timely help to stay independent

🚗💬 A Fantastic Start at Our New Perth Outreach! 💬🚗

Following the launch of our new outreach facility in Perth, we’re so pleased to have already welcomed our first clients through the doors and what a brilliant start it’s been!

At DriveAbility Scotland, every assessment is about understanding the individual and finding the right pathway back to safe, confident and independent mobility. Here’s a glimpse of the journeys we’ve supported already:

✨ Linda’s Story
Linda came to us for an adaptations assessment after experiencing a stroke many years ago, which affected the right side of her body. Keen to begin learning to drive, she wanted to explore what adaptations could support her.

During her assessment, Linda trialled a left-foot accelerator and a keypad smart steer. With practice, her confidence and control improved, and she showed great potential using these adaptations. With some additional tuition, Linda is well on her way to building the skills and confidence needed to achieve her goal of driving.

✨ Stuart’s Story
Following a car accident that resulted in a head and spinal cord injury, Stuart attended for an adaptations assessment to explore options for returning to driving. He trialled both pull/push hand controls and an over-ring accelerator with push-away brake.

While he initially preferred one option, it was during the on-road drive that things really clicked. Stuart found himself enjoying driving again with the over-ring accelerator setup, a hugely positive step forward in his journey back to independence.

💙 These early assessments highlight exactly what our Perth outreach is all about, providing accessible, hands-on opportunities for people to explore solutions, rebuild confidence, and move forward safely.

We’re excited to continue supporting many more individuals across the region.

“I thought losing my independence was inevitable…”

David was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004.

Over time, driving started to feel uncertain.

Not gone - just… slipping out of reach.

Then he came to DriveAbility Scotland’s Inverness outreach facility.

And everything changed.

🗣 “It’s a Godsend… this will change lives.”

No long journeys.

No barriers.

Just real support, close to home.

🗣 “They were so helpful and accommodating… it wasn’t even an issue.”

And then came the moment that mattered most:

🗣 “My independence was within reach again.”

That feeling?

You can’t measure it.

But it changes everything.

This MS Awareness Week (20-26 April) - remember:

A diagnosis doesn’t define a future.

Access does.

If you’re living with MS - support is out there.

If you know someone who is - share this.

Because independence isn’t lost.

Sometimes, it just needs unlocking.

Today is World Parkinson’s Day 2026! 💙

This is the time to raise awareness and understanding of a condition that affects millions of people worldwide.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that can impact:

▪ Movement

▪ Coordination

▪ Reaction time

▪ Concentration

Symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, slower movements and fatigue can all influence how someone drives and these changes can vary from person to person, and even day to day.

At DriveAbility Scotland, we recognise that a diagnosis doesn’t automatically mean giving up driving.

For many, driving is key to maintaining independence, staying connected with family and friends, and continuing everyday life.

Our clinically-led driving assessments, carried out by an Occupational Therapist and a Driving Assessor, help individuals understand how Parkinson’s may be affecting their driving in a safe and supportive environment.

We look at everything from physical control and reaction times to cognitive function and fatigue.

Where appropriate, we can recommend:

🚗 Vehicle adaptations to make driving easier and more comfortable

🎯 Specialist driving tuition to build confidence and adjust to changes

🧭 Ongoing advice to help plan for the future as needs evolve

Our aim is always to provide clear, professional guidance, helping people make informed decisions about their mobility, whether that means continuing to drive safely or exploring alternative options.

This World Parkinson’s Day, we stand with everyone affected by Parkinson’s and celebrate the importance of safe, supported independence.

💙 If you or someone you know would benefit from a driving or mobility assessment, get in touch with our team to find out how we can help.

🌍 Happy World Autism Awareness Day 2026 💙

Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, we’re recognising and celebrating autistic individuals across Scotland and beyond and reflecting on the importance of understanding, inclusion, and meaningful support!

Autism is different for everyone. For some, learning to drive or staying on the road can bring unique challenges but with the right support, it can also open up life-changing opportunities for independence and connection.

At DriveAbility Scotland, we’re proud to support autistic individuals through:

✅Clinically led driving assessments

✅Tailored advice

✅ Specialist tuition

Our team takes the time to understand each person’s needs, helping them explore driving in a way that feels safe and comfortable and right for them.

🚗 For many, being able to drive isn’t just about getting from A to B, it’s about freedom, routine, and greater control over daily life.

Today is a reminder that creating accessible opportunities starts with awareness and grows through acceptance.

By understanding different experiences, we can help ensure that more people have the chance to achieve their goals including getting behind the wheel.

💙 Let’s continue to build a world that supports, includes, and empowers everyone.
