For reasons of life, my lunchtime classes at Merchant City Yoga are online-only for a few weeks. In-person classes are on temporary hiatus.

Still Friday 12:30-1:15, still soft, strong and stretchy.

Wednesday evenings are still going ahead both in studio and online - Vinyasa & Movement, 6-7:15

My second favourite thing about running a workshop is that it gives me an excuse to hit the books and absolutely geek out. I’ve been thinking about nothing but shoulders for the past month, in (over-)preparation for last weekend’s pincha workshop at Merchant City Yoga.

But my absolute favourite thing about running a workshop is seeing people challenge themselves, gain new insights and discover what they’re capable of.

P.S. I must give special credit to Ella Cojocaru (Ellavate Yoga), who completely broke down and rebuilt my pincha and changed my perspective on this pose. Her approach informed a big chunk of this workshop. Thanks Ella!

A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO FOREARM STAND – this weekend at Merchant City Yoga

Pincha Mayurasana is a demanding, but highly rewarding inversion that combines aspects of both headstand and handstand, yet has its own unique challenges.

This 2.5-hour workshop will:

• introduce the purpose and principles of the pose
• guide you through a yoga flow to prepare the body for Pincha
• help you build a solid foundation
• offer drills for strength, mobility and body awareness.

Suitable for both beginners and more experienced practitioners looking to refine and revitalise their Pincha.

Butoh isn’t about performance or perfection — it’s about listening deeply to the body, exploring memories and dreams, allowing yourself to be danced.

Through grounding, fluid-awareness and moving-meditation exercises, you’ll dissolve tension, heighten your sensitivity to body energies, and explore surreal imagery as a gateway to the Imagination-body.

✨ No experience needed — just curiosity and a willingness to move. These workshops are for anyone who wants to expand their sense of what the body can be, whether or not you consider yourself a dancer. Every body, every story, every movement is welcome.

Your guide, Paul Michael Henry, has studied with many of Butoh’s most renowned teachers and has been teaching and performing internationally for over 15 years. His approach weaves together tradition, lived experience and personal research, creating a space of care, depth and exploration.
