How many of us don't realise our own power because of a belief that was created when we were young?

As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they
believed they couldn't they were stuck right there.

If you are looking for a reason to stop scrolling today - this is it!

Research shows scrolling through social media negatively impacts 3 in 10 Brits (rising to 42% in those aged 18 to 29). The common areas affected are self-esteem, depression and problems with sleep.

Psychologist Dr Becky Spelman notes that staying connected is of course important but constant exposure to conspiracy theories, ‘fake news’ and misinformed advice is not at all useful.
“For those who find that their time on social media is getting them down or causing anxiety, it is important to know when to step away".

On Sundays we do nothing.

Today I encourage you to take a day to step away from the grind and take the time for yourself to relax, chat, read and play.

Rest is radical.

Rest can help you to feel more connected with yourself.

Rest is important for growth and restoration.

Rest can help you to feel better, more calm and less overwhelmed.

There are numerous benefits to resting regularly.

Rest is not only for the religious.

A helpful blog post I found is at https://catholicgentleman.com/2014/12/thou-shalt-take-easy-7-reasons-embrace-sunday-rest/

Monday Movie Recommendation

Yeah you've probably already seen it BUT I watched it recently with my son and I realised it gave me a way to understand death.

ET is a creature from another planet who was only meant to be on earth for a very short time. He simply could not live on this planet for any longer and he had to return to his own planet.

And I thought what if that is all of us too. We are here for a short amount of time and eventually we will have to leave and go back to whatever it was that we were before.

As much as Elliot wanted ET to stay he simply couldn't and Elliot couldn't leave earth to go with ET either. They had to part ways.

Sometimes it makes no sense to us why someone has been taken from us too soon but somehow considering that it simply was impossible for them to continue living on earth and they had to leave brought me some peace.

Also at the end when Elliot asks ET to stay and ET responds saying "I am always here" and he points to Elliots mind. That could not be truer. When someone leaves this earth they are never far from your thoughts.
