Phones are working again

We are having an issue with the phones this morning, we are hoping to have this sorted out as soon as possible.

Our A&E departments are busier than normal. Please think carefully before attending.

Unless it’s an emergency, there are alternative healthcare services to help you get the care you need.

Think ABC before A&E:

✔ Ask yourself: Can I manage this at home? Visit NHS Inform or download the NHS 24 app for advice.
✔ Be aware: Your local GP, pharmacy, dentist, or optician can help with many conditions.
✔ Call 111: If it’s urgent or you’re unsure, NHS 24 will guide you to the right care.

Please try self care at home with over the counter remedies and seek advice from a pharmacy if it is not clearing up after a week or so, unless you have a lung condition such as asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis etc. In which case please still contact the surgery or out of hours service if you feel its necessary to do so.

Many services will be closed or have reduced opening hours over the festive period, including your GP practice and local pharmacy.

GP practices will be closed 24–28 December, and again 31 December–4 January. Most pharmacies will be closed 24–26 December, and again 31 December–2 January.

Please ensure you order and collect your regular medication, if required, prior to the festive period. There is no need to order additional medication.

The GP Out of Hours service is by appointment only.

Don’t let gravy be the Grinch this Christmas!

We are reminding everyone to take extra care this festive season. Burns from hot gravy, cuts from box cutters, falls from ladders, and upset stomachs are among the reasons people end up in A&E on Christmas Day.

A&E is for urgent injuries and life‑threatening emergencies.

For minor injuries or illnesses, try treating at home or call NHS 24 on 111 for advice.

Parents and carers:
• Make sure bikes and scooters come with helmets.
• Check toys for small parts and button batteries.
• Keep hair straighteners and cleaning products out of reach.
• Watch out for water beads – they can be dangerous if swallowed.

Enjoy the celebrations, stay safe, and keep little ones protected. No one wants to spend Christmas in a waiting room!
