Embracing the Moment in Yoga Practice
I want to immerse myself in the present, fully experiencing the asana (yoga pose) while breathing deeply, aware of my breath and my existence. I will patiently wait until the moment feels right for my body to move forward, releasing what I have been holding onto. As I notice each step I take, I will make time to celebrate myself before consciously moving to the next step at my own pace. Tuning into how I want to feel in my body as this is where my true feelings reside. I seek comfort and rest, strength and softness, flexibility and structure, as well as love and joy. I’ve learned that consistency in my practice allows me to move with grace and access all these states, no matter where I am.
I’ve found it to be true that if I open my body too quickly, it often snaps back to where I started, sometimes even resulting in injury. There’s no long-term benefit in forcing ourselves into poses. It is the regularity of practice that fosters balance, health, and happiness in life.
Rhythm plays a vital role too. I notice that when I move my body in a rhythmic manner, I am better equipped to face life’s challenges in harmony.
So join me in this practice and create a new rhythm for yourself, either Monday mornings or Tuesday evenings or both and begin to welcome more of yourself back into your body and life.
Look forward to seeing you.
