Last week, our team took part in an important awareness session led by a representative from the Breast Screening Service. They gave a really practical demonstration and shared helpful advice on how to check your breasts, something so simple, yet so vital.🎀

It was a brilliant and informative day for everyone involved. Our Care Professionals, office team and even a few of our male colleagues joined in to learn and show support for such an important cause.

A big thank you goes to our scheduler, Eilidh, for coming up with the idea, and to everyone who took the time to get involved and make the day such a success.💕

🎃 Halloween and Dementia: Keeping Things Calm and Comforting 🎃

Halloween can be great fun for many, but for someone living with dementia, all the spooky sights and sounds can sometimes be overwhelming. At Home Instead Glasgow South, we understand how important it is to keep things calm, safe and enjoyable, so here are a few simple tips to help this Halloween go smoothly:

🕯️ Keep décor friendly, not frightening – Decorations that flash, move or make loud noises can cause confusion or distress. Try swapping them for pumpkins, autumn leaves or warm lighting instead.

🍪 Choose calming activities – Trick-or-treaters, costumes and loud noises can be unsettling. Instead, try reading together, baking something seasonal, or watching a favourite show.

🍬 Leave treats at the door – A bowl of sweets on the doorstep means little visitors can still enjoy the fun without knocking or ringing the bell.
