spotlight: Scots Pine π²
Late Autumn is a wonderful time to smell Scots Pine in the forests around us; especially just after the rain or in the morning dew. The essential oils get naturally diffused in the air. It is one of my favourite smells when being out for a walk!
Did you know that in Switzerland they used pine needles to stuff their mattresses? This would have not only smelled wonderful, but was also important for preventing respiratory conditions.
Scots Pine tonifies Qi energy, is an expectorant, balsamic and antiseptic. It can benefit conditions such as rheumatism, cold pleghm, sinus and bronchial congestion, coughs and nervous exhaustion.
Energetically, pine oil opens the chest, invigorates our mind, and helps restore self-confidence and positivity. It helps with establishing boundaries and having a healthy self-image.
I love using this oil for steam inhalation. It's super simple but works wonders in Winter. Just boil some water in the kettle, pour it into a large bowl or pot, add a few drops of essential oil and go under a towel to inhale the steam (keep your eyes closed!). In the beginning, you might need to come out more frequently as it will be hot, but over time, you will adjust and can stay longer under the towel. Do it for about 10 minutes in total.

*Please always dilute essential oils with carrier oils, as they are strong, concentrated substances. The knowledge I share on the oils is in no way a replacement for conventional medicine. Please always seek in-person advice from a GP or integrative health professional.*
