🚨 Important Update for Our Patients & Visitors 🚨

To help reduce the spread of flu and protect our most vulnerable patients, the recommendation for wearing face coverings has now extended into primary care.

✅ If you are visiting a GP practice, we strongly encourage all patients to wear a face mask while on the premises.
✅ This advice already applies to hospital visitors and clinical staff, helping to keep everyone safe.

By taking this simple step, you are helping to protect yourself, your loved ones, and the wider community. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. 💙

If you are visiting a friend or loved one in hospital, please help us to reduce the spread of flu and to minimise the risk to vulnerable patients.

We are encouraging all visitors to our hospitals, and all clinical staff, to wear face coverings, similar to those used during the COVID pandemic, while they are on our premises.

By taking this simple step, you will help ensure that you, your loved ones and our patients stay protected.

🤒 Feeling flu-ish? Let’s help stop the spread! 💙

If your symptoms are mild to moderate, the best thing you can do is stay home and rest — this helps protect others, especially in GP practices, hospitals, and healthcare settings.

👉 Need medical advice?
Visit your local pharmacy in the first instance for advice under the 'Pharmacy First Scotland' scheme or call NHS 24 on 111.

🛡️ Simple ways to protect others:
✅ Wash your hands regularly
✅ Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow
✅ Consider wearing a face mask when out and about

⚠️ A gentle reminder:
Flu is caused by a virus, which means antibiotics won’t help. Misusing antibiotics increases the risk of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) — one of the biggest global health threats.

At Castlemilk Group Practice, we’re committed to using antibiotics responsibly to keep them working for everyone, now and in the future.

💊 How YOU can help fight antibiotic resistance:
✅ Only take antibiotics when prescribed
✅ Always complete the full course
✅ Never share or save antibiotics
✅ Keep up good hygiene & vaccinations
✅ Ask for advice if you’re unsure

🌍 Together, we can protect these life-saving medicines for future generations.

Battling the flu? 🤧 Here are some top tips from NHS inform to help you feel better and stop the flu from spreading:

TREATING FLU

🔹 Rest and Sleep: Give your body the time it needs to recover.
🔹 Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.
🔹 Medication: Take paracetamol or ibuprofen to reduce fever and ease aches and pains.

The symptoms of flu usually develop 1 to 3 days after becoming infected, and most people will feel better within a week.

PREVENTING THE SPREAD

🔹 Good Hygiene: Wash your hands often with warm water and soap.
🔹 Cover Up: Use a tissue or your elbow to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
🔹 Get Rid: Bin used tissues as soon as possible.
🔹 Stay Home: If you have a high temperature or feel unwell, stay at home to avoid spreading the flu to others.
🔹 Clean Surfaces: regularly disinfect places like your computer keyboard, telephone and door handles.

Remember flu is spread by germs from coughs and sneezes, which can live on hands and surfaces for 24 hours. Follow our hygiene tips above to prevent the virus from spreading further!
