As a therapist I'm being deeply challenged by the rigorous psychoanalytic approach my two year old is currently putting me through..."but why mummy?" *mummy gives explanation* "but why?" *mummy gives explanation* "but why?" and repeat! Breathe deep and embrace the learning curve!

Baby Race! Sometimes its feels like you are in some kind of contest to get your baby/child to reach a milestone first; to get them to where the books/internet say they should be. It can create a huge anxiety and it normally ends up with parents questioning themselves about what they have done wrong or could be doing better. My advice, go easy on yourself. Children develop at their own pace so enjoy the ride and before you know it they will be hitting all the milestones. Check out the Bluey episode 'Baby Race' (S2 E47 on Disney Plus) its well worth it!

My heart felt so tender yesterday as my eldest went for his first day at school. I managed to keep my brave face on but as I turned to leave the tears flowed. Everyone was reassuring me "it is a good school" and "he will do fine" but for me the tears were about the end of an era. The end of another phase of our relationship, the end of having days in the week together, the end of a special kind of innocence. Parenting keeps revealing all its many faces and challenges to me. Now its time for me to embrace this new part of the journey.

Before I read this article I didn't know that there was a link between trauma (that occured before pregnancy) and delayed lactogenisis (milk slow to come in). So on World Breastfeeding Week I think this is a great read. I think its so important for people to know before they start a breastfeeding journey so they can prepare in advance and give themselves every chance to have a successful breastfeeding journey. Please do share this article.

For birthing parents with pre-existing post-traumatic stress disorder, the road to breastfeeding isn't as smooth as you might have been led to believe. Here's what new parents should know.
