How does Sekhem work?
Sekhem works to harmonize and balance all aspects of a person's being – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, thus supporting the bodies' own natural healing processes.

Healing with the hands, where energy passes through the healer and into the patient's energy field and body, has been used for centuries to improve people's health.

Looking forward to another great event, see you on Saturday.

Aikido is a Japanese martial art, it has always been seen as the thinking person’s art. In today’s world we have no real comprehension of the benefits of practicing such a lovely art.
In Aikido we have a set of mobilisations that aid flexibility and strength in the body, this in turn teaches good posture and the acceptance of nerve and joint pain through disciplined continual practice. When a trained Aikido practitioner applies these techniques in a therapy setting it can also help aid recovery in the body.

The locks in aikido aren’t really designed to cause pain. That’s more of a side-effect than anything else. The locks are known as katame-waza, which means controlling techniques. Once again, the clue is in the name.

They aren’t called pain techniques, or agony techniques, or anything like that. Their primary purpose is to control. A properly applied nikkyo for instance will manoeuvre the arm into a position where it structurally ’locks’.

Uke tends to go down because this arrangement of limbs requires minimal pressure to cause pain. If uke had their pain receptors removed, they still wouldn’t be able to stand up again without breaking their wrist.

The pain doesn’t keep them down, the pain simply tells them that structurally their arm is in danger. This generally translates to people screaming though so you can see where the confusion starts.

Most aikido katame-waza is based on manipulating the wrist (tekubi), forearm (kote), elbow (hiji) and arm (ude).
These are the normal wrist and forearm movements: a) flexion-extension, b) radioulnar deviation, c) rotation.

Thank you for your wonderful reviews!

"I received a series of exercise treatments over a period of eight weeks and gradually the tremors and the shakes had almost gone. I was able to walk small distances without my mobility aids, and I still travel with my mobility scooter to get me out within my local community." Dougie McIntosh

"I cannot begin to thank you enough for my taster session today. I've lived with chronic pain for 12 years now and tonight I managed to climb my stairs with tea in hand (if U know, you know) Usually a both banister job! The difference in even just standing up from my chair is unreal. You'd think these Japanese healing modalities we learn actually work haha. Worth every penny and more!! I honestly appreciate it so much." Pamela Hutton

"Fantastic treatment today which managed to alleviate a tremor I had in my left leg. A thorough consultation taking took place prior to the treatment and all my questions were answered in a very professional manner. I will definitely revisit and hope to make some progression in my FND. Recommended highly as this is the first treatment that I have felt has made a positive difference." Mark Lees
