Featured Artist ~ Ian Bruin ✨

Ian Bruin is an artist working in Project Ability’s Aspire studios. He has a mixed practice of painting, drawing, animation and more. His artistic talent and skill has flourished in the past several years.

“I have always loved drawing on paper and on my computer. I have been doing short animations since 2008 at home on my PC. My school art teacher got me started at Project Ability in the summertime doing a film-making course."

Ian currently has a solo show at Project Ability until 20th December.

Episode 1 of our new series; taking you behind the scenes of how our handcrafted shop items are brought to life.

Artists Sian and Cameron have been sculpting Glasgow Tenemnets alongside cermaicist and tutor Tracy. From shaping the buildings to adding window ledges, snoozing cats, perching birds and tiny architectural details, each piece is handcrafted with precision and care.

Thank you so much to everyone who made it along to the reception of the Feathered Friends Exhibition and Ian Bruin's solo show. We had over 100 visitors to our gallery on Thursday night!

A big thank you to RSPB for coming along on the evening with their information stall and donating their fun raffle prizes!

Both exhibitions are on until 20th December with our gallery open every Wed - Sat, 11am -5pm.

All Exhibition artwork is for sale and our shop is filled with one of a kind Christmas gifts!

This solo exhibition brings together a selection of Ian’s recent paintings, offering a glimpse into his visual world, one that balances realism with quiet drama and a touch of the surreal. His scenes are often devoid of people, yet full of atmosphere and presence, allowing the viewer to imagine the stories that unfold within them.

A trip closer to home - The last Walking Group outing was a visit the two Modern Institute galleries to see their current exhibitions.

‘Surroundings’ by Haley Tompkins is an exhibition of painted canvases and everyday objects including twigs and clothing. In Aird’s Lane, they seen ‘Time’s Arrow’ by Jesse Wine and ‘Camping’ by Osama Al Rayyan.

'There’s Comfort in Community'

CCA: Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow

Six Short films will be screened at the CCA tomorrow, each exploring human connection and the profound comfort found in community.

Project Ability's entry was an experimental short film made by members of the ReConnect programme for people with lived experience of mental ill health.

This event is part of wider film programme. Screenings will be happening in Glasgow at the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival from Thursday 6 to Saturday 9 November at The Social Hub and CCA: Centre for Contemporary Arts.

Tickets are Pay What You Can (FREE to £10) and all screenings include a Q&A with filmmakers and guests.
