📍Diane and Bridie at the Panto in Airdrie

For International Day of Disabled Persons, read this brilliant story about Liam, who is supported by our Caithness team, and how he has turned his dream of being an author into a reality!

New faces at Team We Are Key 👀

Meet Amy and Katie, who are in their third year at Strathclyde University. They joined us in October as part of the university's MDP Social Responsibility Pathway internship programme a. Amy and Katie will be with us until March helping out with some of our communications work, including on social media.

As you can see, they've already been super busy with creating some Christmas content, keep an eye out for that over the coming weeks. And, they've even recruited some seasonal help. Although, Keyth the Elf seemed more interested in celebrating the Scotland men's team's triumph in last week's World Cup Qualifiers 🙄😄 We hope he won't cause any mischief ...

Welcome to the team, Amy, Katie and Keyth!

Day 3 of Scottish Learning Disability Week and what a day it's been! The wonderful Keynotes had folks dancing and singing along at Silverburn Shopping Centre in Glasgow. There are unconfirmed reports that people could be seen doing The Slosh (IYKYN) 😄

We hosted our Annual General Meeting which, as always, had amazing inputs from people we support through their involvement with TAG (The Advisory Group) and our tenants through the ever-growing My Home Group. The AGM is also always an opportunity to show how people we support and our tenants are involved at the heart of decision-making in our organisation.

On Day 2 of Scottish Learning Disability Week it was a real privilege to host the New Routes Home 'No Time to Waste' event. It provided an opportunity to acknowledge how too many people with learning disabilities and autistic people continue to live in institutional settings. Most importantly, it was a chance to hear from families for whom this is the reality for their loved ones and they live with its impact daily.

Their experiences, alongside those of professionals, form the basis of two new toolkits launched at the event. One is aimed at professionals, the other at families, and together they offer alternative approaches to moving people out of long-stay hospital into community-based settings. The toolkits will be available online from Friday from https://newrouteshome.wixsite.com/scotland
