Eye care

At Currie and Quirk's the view is that: "Having an eye test shouldn't be just about selecting new glasses or contact lenses" and Gordon Quirk goes on to point out that:
Many different and potentially serious conditions can be detected through regular eye examinations ... everyone should make a point of having their eyes tested regularly. New regulations from the Scottish Executive mean that every resident in Scotland, including students here to study, will be able to have an eye examination paid for by the NHS from 1st April, 2006. "Hopefully, this will encourage those who do not normally need glasses, to have an eye examination to ensure that their eyes are healthy".

Glaucoma is a common eye condition where the optic nerve, which connects the eye to the brain, becomes damaged.
Treatment for glaucoma will depend on your symptoms. It can include eyedrops, laser treatment and surgery.
Your age, ethnicity, family history and some medical conditions can increase your chances of getting glaucoma.
Glaucoma tends to develop slowly over many years and affects the edges of your vision (peripheral vision) first.
For this reason, many people do not realise they have glaucoma, and it's often only picked up during a routine eye test.
If you do notice any symptoms, they might include blurred vision, or seeing rainbow-coloured circles around bright lights.
Both eyes are usually affected, although it may be worse in 1 eye.
Very occasionally, glaucoma can develop suddenly and cause:
intense eye pain
nausea and vomiting
a red eye
a headache
tenderness around the eyes
seeing rings around lights
blurred vision

Can you see what really matters!

Sophia is fighting a progressive, incurable, genetic disorder which is stealing a little more of her away from us every single day. She has lost most of the skills that she learnt as a young child and is now completely dependent upon our care.
Her condition of Sanfilippo Syndrome, (MPS111A) is often referred to as ‘Childhood Alzheimer’s’ as it helps people to understand it’s devastating impact.

Let’s see if we can create a little awareness with as many people liking and sharing this post as possible to see if we can get a little love from Ray-Ban Glasses, which are Sophia’s and the whole family’s absolute faves 😎 💜

Will you like, comment and share to help us..? ###

PS. Big thank you to Currie & Quirk Opticians for always taking such good care of Sophia x
