The Big Conversation: Priority 2 – Professional Practice 🗣️✨

🔵The Big Conversation Nursing and Midwifery Strategy has launched Priority 2 – Professional Practice, with conversations taking place throughout November, December and January.

🔵We are delighted to share that there are now 215 Big Conversation Champions. This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the commitment of each champion in driving meaningful conversations and ensuring the voices of nurses and midwives are heard as we implement ‘Leading the Way’. Please continue to engage with your local champions and share feedback from your conversations – we are listening.

🔵Professional Practice is the second priority within the Strategy and invites teams to reflect on three key areas: aspirations for professional practice, professional development, and future goals. Feedback can be shared via the MS Form or QR code right and takes just two minutes to complete. We also encourage everyone to explore the Education Framework for further guidance and support.

🔵We have already received over 50 responses on Professional Practice and more than 400 overall – thank you to everyone who has contributed. Key themes include evidence-based practice, career development, and access to time, resources and support to ensure safe practice.

🔵The Big Conversation remains a powerful platform for shaping the future of nursing and midwifery across NHSGGC. For feedback or to become a champion, email: ggc.bigconversationsfeedback@nhs.scot.

✨️🎉The Neurology Rehabilitation Unit at the QEUH Celebrated their 30 Year Anniversary since first opening in 1995.🎉✨️

The staff marked the occasion with an event held at the Teaching and Learning Centre, hosting some fantastic speakers looking at the past, present & future of Neurology Rehab.
We had the pleasure of hearing about the incredible patient journeys, with personal experiences shared by some of the previous patients of the unit.
Attendees were also invited to the unit to continue celebrations and exhibitions.
Thank you to all those who attended and supported the event, in order to celebrate the 30 year journey of this amazing service. ✨️🎉
And a big thank you to all the NRU Staff, Keep up the incredible work ✨️💙

🔵Why are Personal Development Planning and Review (PDP&R) conversations so important?
Hear from Vice Chair David Gould.

🔵The annual Personal Development Planning and Review (PDP&R) conversation gives you dedicated time to reflect over the year and summarise what has gone well, what could create a better experience, and what to plan for in the year ahead.

🔵Vice Chair of the Board and member of the People Committee David Gould shares this message for staff, talking about the importance of these conversations for your wellbeing and career, and encouraging colleagues to record their conversation on Turas:

If you are visiting a friend or loved one in hospital, please help us to reduce the spread of flu and to minimise the risk to vulnerable patients.

We are encouraging all visitors to our hospitals, and all clinical staff, to wear face coverings, similar to those used during the COVID pandemic, while they are on our premises.

By taking this simple step, you will help ensure that you, your loved ones and our patients stay protected.

Roselynn Kennedy has retired after dedicating 47 years to the Burns and Plastic Surgery Service. Roselynn was the Ward Manager, for many years, in The Burns Unit situated in ward 40/41 and ward 23/24 before moving to ward 45 in the Jubilee Building of GRI.

Roselynn then held the post of Lead Nurse for 10 years and was the Clinical Service Manager for a period of time. She returned to the Burns Unit to finish her career as a Charge Nurse. This is where Roselynn's passion lay. She has always been an advocate for compassionate care, improvements in Burn Care and staff development. She promoted excellence in care to help patients achieve the best possible functional outcomes and live as normal a life as possible following traumatic, life changing injuries.

Roselynn has been instrumental in many improvements within the service. She was involved in the establishment of the Burns Clinic, setting up the post graduate Burns and Plastic surgery course, introduction of day surgery in Plastic Surgery, introduction of pre-assessment and Nurse Led Minor Surgery to mention a few.

Roselynn has inspired many of us both clinically and through her leadership and drive. She will be missed by all the staff and we wish her a well-deserved retirement. She is a true Burns Legend.
