Founded by a power wheelchair user, we create next-generation mobility products to allow wheelchair users to live the life they choose.

The founder, Alex Papanikolaou, created Freedom One Life due to the limitations of the stagnant powerchair market which he experienced first-hand. Our vision is to deliver radical change to the market, offering a revolutionary power wheelchair to improve independence and stretch the boundaries of powerchair users. We have done this in 4 key ways:

Performance - we have created the biggest wheelchair battery in the world, delivering a world-beating 40-kilometre range in real-world conditions on a single charge. Our high-efficiency motors deliver triple the power of comparable chairs on the market, and we also have a compact design, ideal for precise manoeuvrability. Reliability and Safety - Our battery has five years of charge cycles, we use premium grade materials to improve strength and stability, and cables and components are completely enclosed, protecting them from damage. Comfort and Convenience - Adjustable ergonomic seating and tilt and lift functions for flexible positioning. We are the only chair in the world to have an onboard, integrated charger. We also use low-pressure, extra-wide rear tyres for a smoother ride. Transportability - 30% lighter than comparable powerchairs on the market, crash-tested, and with accessible lift points for transit.

Alex and Zara visit London often, and it’s always a good test of how the Series 5 handles the realities of busy public transport. Even in a city as vast as London, accessibility can still be a challenge - but with the right planning and the right equipment, getting around is absolutely possible.

At present, around a third of Tube stations and half of Overground stations offer step-free access, but that number is steadily growing. Many provide staff-assisted ramps for boarding, though not all. Disabled travellers deserve better, and that goes for every city, not just the capital.

Over five incredible days our competitors pushed themselves to the limit, proving that travelling with a disability isn’t just possible, but with the right support and equipment, it can be exciting, liberating, and, in their case, fiercely competitive! 🏁

Kate was one of our four incredible competitors for Race Across Europe 2025.🌍💪

Before the race, she wasn’t a Series 5 owner. She tried the chair for a few days before setting off, but admitted she didn’t think she needed a powerchair with that much power, or that many features.

But as her journey across Europe unfolded, something changed. With every challenge and every kilometre, Kate grew more comfortable and more confident. The chair (now named Heather!) - wasn’t just equipment. It became freedom. Independence. A reminder that the right tools can completely transform how you experience the world, and how you manage your condition.

Watching that transformation and seeing Kate’s confidence bloom in just five days was nothing short of magical for our team. ✨

By the end of the trip, Kate couldn’t imagine being without Heather. She made the decision to make the Series 5 her own, officially! Race Across Europe was never about selling chairs to competitors. It was about showing what’s possible for disabled people with the right planning and the right equipment. Kate’s journey reminded us exactly why we did the Race in the first place.

Kate sent us this photo this morning, and it made everyone in the office smile. She said “This one is me grinning because although I've been to this beach before, I've never got this far along it because my old chair couldn't.” 🏖️🌊

Florence is looking forward to attending charity events for and in her new Series 5 sporting their lovely purple and orange colours.

It’s an unexpected and new combo for us but I really love it, it reminds me of an iris!

Last week the team were racing around Dusseldorf for 2025, and it was our biggest and best year yet! We had a great time meeting so many amazing people, showing off the Series 5, competing for the best lap times on our custom built Scalextric track, and getting everyone excited about the Race Across Europe documentary, which is dropping later this year.

Falling in love again and again with our Thistle Green 😍💚☘️ This time with a brushed steel badge, which looks really cool!

Since we introduced this colour to our standard range, it has been so popular - and I can see why! 💫

It looks beautiful in matt, satin and gloss and strikes the perfect balance between fashionable and classic. 💛
