Founded by a power wheelchair user, we create next-generation mobility products to allow wheelchair users to live the life they choose.

The founder, Alex Papanikolaou, created Freedom One Life due to the limitations of the stagnant powerchair market which he experienced first-hand. Our vision is to deliver radical change to the market, offering a revolutionary power wheelchair to improve independence and stretch the boundaries of powerchair users. We have done this in 4 key ways:

Performance - we have created the biggest wheelchair battery in the world, delivering a world-beating 40-kilometre range in real-world conditions on a single charge. Our high-efficiency motors deliver triple the power of comparable chairs on the market, and we also have a compact design, ideal for precise manoeuvrability. Reliability and Safety - Our battery has five years of charge cycles, we use premium grade materials to improve strength and stability, and cables and components are completely enclosed, protecting them from damage. Comfort and Convenience - Adjustable ergonomic seating and tilt and lift functions for flexible positioning. We are the only chair in the world to have an onboard, integrated charger. We also use low-pressure, extra-wide rear tyres for a smoother ride. Transportability - 30% lighter than comparable powerchairs on the market, crash-tested, and with accessible lift points for transit.

Katharina clearly enjoyed kicking up some dust by the Eiffel Tower, so her Series 5 was a due a bit of a wash. There are far worse places for that than sunny Nice!

Public transport played a huge role during the race (which you can now watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7MV6MW5j8I).

We relied on trains, buses, taxis and station staff across Europe, and the experience showed just how critical and inconsistent accessibility can be. Some places were miles ahead of the UK, while others…not so much….

Haydn and Alex are an infectiously cheeky, joyful duo who are an absolute dream to watch on screen. Their natural chemistry, humour, and energy bring the adventure to life, and it’s impossible not to be swept along with them.

What makes their story especially powerful is seeing the way they communicate. This kind of dynamic is rarely, if ever, shown in mainstream media, and we were proud to be able to showcase how Haydn and Alex amplify each other’s voices, support one another, and move through the world as a team.

We hope you fall in love with these two Wiganers as much as we did by watching the Race Across Europe documentary on January 27th!

ONE WEEK TODAY⏰🚨

Oli Oli Oli (Oi Oi Oi!) built an incredible amount of confidence over the course of the trip. Stepping outside his comfort zone at every stage, he embraced new challenges, navigated unfamiliar cities, and adapted to unexpected hurdles.

As the journey progressed, we saw a real shift in how he carried himself. By the end, Oli was much more confident asking for help when needed, or pushing himself to try new things, showing just how powerful the right support, mindset, and opportunity can be.
