Freedom One Life

Freedom One Life Founded by a power wheelchair user, we create next-generation mobility products to allow wheelchair users to live the life they choose.

The founder, Alex Papanikolaou, created Freedom One Life due to the limitations of the stagnant powerchair market which he experienced first-hand. Our vision is to deliver radical change to the market, offering a revolutionary power wheelchair to improve independence and stretch the boundaries of powerchair users. We have done this in 4 key ways:

Performance - we have created the biggest wheelchair battery in the world, delivering a world-beating 40-kilometre range in real-world conditions on a single charge. Our high-efficiency motors deliver triple the power of comparable chairs on the market, and we also have a compact design, ideal for precise manoeuvrability. Reliability and Safety - Our battery has five years of charge cycles, we use premium grade materials to improve strength and stability, and cables and components are completely enclosed, protecting them from damage. Comfort and Convenience - Adjustable ergonomic seating and tilt and lift functions for flexible positioning. We are the only chair in the world to have an onboard, integrated charger. We also use low-pressure, extra-wide rear tyres for a smoother ride. Transportability - 30% lighter than comparable powerchairs on the market, crash-tested, and with accessible lift points for transit.

We've just sent Michael's upgraded Series 5 on its way back to him in Northern Ireland following a visit to our Glasgow office. It's always a pleasure catching up with Michael - we hope he enjoys everything the upgrade has to offer!

If you're an existing Series 5 owner with the OG S5 design, now's a great time to explore our upgrade package. The bundle brings your chair up to date with a refreshed Series 5 featuring leg raise, recline, our latest tyre design and a selection of other upgrades to design, build quality and comfort. You can also tailor the package with optional add-ons, including electric forward folding and a growing range of new accessories - such as our popular luggage rack! With our busy modern lives, stillness can feel like a luxury. The day moves quickly, and it’s easy to pass through it without really noticing where you are.

Pause for a moment, take a quiet breath that is not rushed and notice the world around you.

Notice the dry, crunchy leaves, the sound of water hitting pavements. A car passing by, a muffled television through a neighbour’s wall. Conversation drifting in and out of earshot or birds chirping into the air above it all.

Peace is rarely the absence of sound, more often, it is the decision to listen.

This is a space for Series 5 owners, anyone interested in our products, or simply those curious about Freedom One Life to connect, share, ask questions, and get inspired.

This has been requested many times, and we’re excited to finally give you a space that’s all yours.

The group will be managed by Kate, one of our amazing Race Across Europe 2025 competitors, and a valued member of the FOL family. She’ll be guiding the community and keeping things running smoothly.

To join, it’s just a simple tick-box question to answer before you’re approved.

Take a moment to read the community group rules, then start chatting, sharing, and showing us what you’re up to! Seeing what you are up to, no matter how mundane you think it is, really inspires us to keep going and improving the Series 5.

We’d love for you to make a hello post to introduce yourself - it’s a great way to get started and meet others in the community.

A pair of blue chairs just came through from our workshop, and they’re a perfectly duo! 👯‍♀️

I’m choosing to look at these colours as bright and summery - an instant mood lift and a welcome reminder that winter is nearly behind us... Longer days and lighter moods ahead, bring on the sun! 🤲🏻🌞

Are you more of a winter or summer person? ☃️☀️

The Series 5 is a hybrid chair built to support a full life of freedom and autonomy - defined by you, not by the chair.

It combines the agility you want day to day with the capability to go further when you need it. A high-capacity battery delivers the range to get through long days without planning around charging, so you can stay out without second-guessing every journey. Pneumatic tyres provide grip, comfort, and confidence across changing surfaces, from pavements and cobbles to parks and uneven ground.

Designed to adapt to real life rather than limit it, the Series 5 gives you the freedom to move more, explore more, and say yes to plans without worrying about whether your chair can keep up.

One week on since the Race Across Europe release, and we have been so pleased with all your positive feedback. Haven’t seen it yet or want to watch it again? You can do so here! https://youtu.be/n7MV6MW5j8I?si=2Kq2JZ8T3ih0uQFg

Katharina clearly enjoyed kicking up some dust by the Eiffel Tower, so her Series 5 was a due a bit of a wash. There are far worse places for that than sunny Nice!

What’s your method for cleaning your chair?

Public transport played a huge role during the race (which you can now watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7MV6MW5j8I).

We relied on trains, buses, taxis and station staff across Europe, and the experience showed just how critical and inconsistent accessibility can be. Some places were miles ahead of the UK, while others…not so much….

What are your thoughts on public transport? And what do you think would make it genuinely better for disabled travellers? 💬
