Retreats are closer than you think...

When travelling down the road of life, you get to meet different people and ways of life along the way. We've been lucky enough to find interesting ways of life, amazing therapies and gifted practitioners along our way. With the busy, often complicated lives that we lead we know it's not always possible to have a wee break from the norm. We know how meditating for half an hour, going to an hours holistic therapeutic session or spending your weekend on a yoga retreat can put you back up on top of the world. And so, The Wee Retreat aims to bring the therapies, ways of life and practitioners we have found along the way to you... so you experience the serenity and calm from your own wee retreat.

Wee Wanders Wellbeing Walks 🌈

This month we'll walk together to , noticing colours along the way — from the vibrant shop fronts and cityscape to the subtler hues of the arrival of spring in the gardens. Once there, we’ll take a little time to pause, breathe, and settle into a short guided meditation, giving ourselves space to be present and notice the quiet shifts of the season.

All paths are paved and mostly flat, making the walk accessible for prams and wheelchair users. There is an accessible bathroom at The Wee Retreat and at The Tramway (next to The Hidden Gardens).

📆 Friday 13th March 10am-12pm, meet at The Wee Retreat

February's Wee Book Club read: The Outsider by Albert Camus 📚

The Outsider is a defining existentialist novel tracking Meursault, an emotionally detached Algerian clerk who refuses to conform to social conventions. After his mother’s death, his apathy and a senseless, sun-drenched murder reveal a world devoid of inherent meaning, making him an outcast judged by society.

Constellation workshop facilitated by Clare Crombie

Open to anyone who is interested in using this wide lens, systemic, compassionate approach to difficulties, a method that includes past generations, and the untold stories of possible traumatic events in the past of our families. Our histories, both personal and collective can continue to cause disturbance in our present day lives. We aim for radical inclusion, with love, and the hope that we can lighten our load in order to allow our life force to support us more fully in taking in and celebrating the life we have been given.

📅 Sunday 12th April, 9:30am-5:30pm

Meet Penny 👋

As a Dietitian, she has extensive experience in disordered and emotional eating, under-fuelling, women’s health, and long-term health conditions. Penny takes a compassionate, psychologically informed approach to nutrition, helping people step away from rigid food rules and reconnecting with their body’s signals.

Alongside her nutrition job, Penny teaches Pilates with a focus on functional strength, body awareness, and confidence in movement. Her own journey with injury re-shaped her approach to exercise, as she discovered the power of mindful, consistent practice as a powerful tool for healing and wellbeing. Penny loves joyful movement off the mat as well. In her spare time she enjoys salsa dancing, nature walks and swimming.

Through Pilates classes and interactive nutrition workshops, Penny supports people to nourish their bodies and move with greater ease — in ways that fit real life.

Practice with Penny :
📆 Pilates - Every Wednesday, 1-2pm

1 week to go until our not so wee retreat on the beautiful Isle of Bute!

This is an opportunity to step away from your every day life.... to slow down, have the opportunity to reconnect with parts of yourself that perhaps get lost or silenced in the everyday habits of your life.

Our first residential retreat is suitable for those completely new to retreating, those with experience are more than welcome to join too! Meditation experience is preferable.

Based on Vicky's personal residential retreat experience, which she has benefited from immensely over the years, you will be offered the chance to live and practice mindfulness in community; sharing periods of meditation, teaching and being in silence as well as the preparation of and eating meals together and the beautiful living space.

There will also be pauses in the day for you to spend as you wish, reading, drinking tea, going for a walk. Spending time in this way can be a very beautiful, healing and rejuvenating experience and we are excited to offer you this big wee retreat!

Getting there: easily accessible by both car and public transport from Glasgow via ferry crossing (car share options available)

Dates: Thurs 19th Feb (arrival from 5pm), leaving 10am Sun 22nd Feb

Accommodation: a gorgeous cottage, think wood burner, views of the sea and cosy sofas. Double and twin rooms available.

Vicki will guide this mindful walk to the pond at Queen’s Park, and as February invites thoughts of love, we will be noticing signs of kindness and connection around us.

This is a slow, accessible walk along paved paths, suitable for wheelchairs and prams, with a few gentle inclines/ declines and one short, steeper slope within the park.
