How do relationship-based programmes support parents and families?

Research from Moldova found that Mellow Parenting significantly improved mothers’ wellbeing, parenting confidence, and day‑to‑day stress levels, while also supporting positive changes in children’s behaviour.

Mellow Growing Together, delivered alongside mums experiencing vulnerabilities with their babies and toddlers, offered a safe and structured space for parents to reflect, connect, and build stronger relationships with their children.

What this really highlights is the value of giving parents the right tools and emotional support. For families facing challenging circumstances, interventions like Mellow Parenting can make a meaningful difference, strengthening bonds, reducing stress, and helping children thrive.

The researchers suggest this approach has real potential to be expanded across Moldova and similar regions, offering hope and practical support to families who need it most.

Last month, we brought our valued Mellow Trainers together at Trainers’ Day, with colleagues from across the UK joining us in person at Mellow HQ and online from around Europe.

On the day, we shared news on our Direct Delivery projects, a review of the refreshed Mellow Growing Together resources, and a look at the updated Training and Accreditation pathway for both Practitioners and Trainers.

There was also plenty of time to relax, catch up during the longer breaks, and enjoy lunch together.

Big thanks to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a positive, productive and enjoyable day.

Congratulations to the parents of Burnfoot Early Years Centre who have just completed our Mellow Growing Together Programme. We are delighted to see more parents from the Scottish Borders getting access to Mellow Parenting programmes.

Mellow Growing Together is our 8-session programme for parents and caregivers of children aged from birth to 5 years. It promotes positive parent–child relationships and encourages responsive and sensitive caregiving. Parents and caregivers are also provided with strength-based video feedback, focusing on the strengths within their relationship with their child.

Today we send a huge congratulations to our wonderful mums who have just completed the 8 week Mellow Growing together programme ✨

Over the past weeks, we have watched you connect, reflect, support one another, and grow in confidence as parents and as individuals. Your openness, commitment, and kindness have made this group truly special.
Well done to you both 👏👏 we are very proud.

We’re incredibly grateful to the mums, children, and Mellow Parenting practitioners at Burnfoot Early Years Centre for sharing their Mellow Mums group journey with us. This week marks their halfway point, and it’s been wonderful to see some of their journey through pictures.

This is what partnering with parents should look like, fun, laughter, working together, enjoyment, with parents recognised and celebrated as the experts in their own families and journeys.

Enjoy the coming sessions everyone ❤️

Our Story

Based on up to date research, Mellow Parenting designs programmes to address gaps in current service provision which help to address social and health inequalities.

The underpinning values are based on the psychological theories of attachment, social learning and cognitive behavioural therapy and focus on improving parent-child relationships, for either male or female caregivers, from the antenatal period up to age five.

Early intervention and attuned parenting in the early years has a long term effect in all areas of a child’s development.

Our training courses provide the tools to build safe, therapeutic and confidential environments to help parents connect with their children.
