Last week, our Mellow Caring for Young People group delivered in partnership with the Family Support team at Falkirk Council completed their programme.

It was great to hear the feedback from the mums after completion. Initially hesitant to take part, they achieved a 100% attendance rate across all sessions, and shared with us that the programme had many benefits to support both them and their young people.

One mum said:
“I was skeptical in joining the group but im so glad I did it has gave me more understanding into how a child's brain works and being more understanding in difficult situations, I have made new friends and we are going to continue meeting up when the group finishes up. I can't thank everyone in group for welcoming me i have enjoyed the hole experience.”

Mellow Caring for Young People focuses on decreasing isolation and helping caregivers navigate adolescence, and understanding and strengthening their relationship with young people. Find out more: https://www.mellowparenting.org/programmes/mellow-caring-for-young-people-11/

Every year, the Mellow Team meets at Mellow HQ to review our goals, celebrate successes, and discuss future direction.

This 2025 has seen incredible achievements from the Team and Board, our Trainers and Practitioners, our partners and supporters, and all the parents, children, and young people who took part in our Mellow programmes. 🥰 We are immensely proud and grateful for the commitment and effort we see in our workforce and in the people involved with Mellow.

Today, we held our Strategy Session for the year ahead, and we are already buzzing to get to work and see how far Mellow will go in #2026. đź’Ş

We are beyond proud to congratulate George Mulveny, Secretary of the Mellow Board, on receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Rotary Club of Troon.

This well-deserved honour recognised his commitment to supporting grassroots community initiatives, something that is very much at the heart of Mellow Parenting’s values.

Since moving to Troon, in Scotland, in 1983, he has played a key role in preserving and celebrating the town’s history, from producing historical calendars at C&G Print, to helping bring HRH The Princess Royal to Troon in 2002 for the centenary of the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition. His work with the Royal Scottish Geographical Society, including exhibitions and commemorative plaques, has ensured this important heritage remains visible for future generations.

His commitment to the town extends far beyond history. From supporting the “Odd Object in the Shop” competition and keeping Wintertainment alive, to years of volunteering through local organisations, he has been a steady and generous presence in community life.

We know George’s kindness, community spirit, and unwavering dedication first-hand, qualities that make this recognition exceptionally well deserved.

Congratulations, George, and thank you for what you continue to do for communities in Scotland and beyond. đź’ť

Our National Development Officer, Stewart McLean, headed to Norfolk last week to deliver a Mellow Connect session on our Mellow Futures programme.

It was great to connect with our Practitioners again and share insights from their work after almost a year since they were trained in the programme.

On the day, we looked at specifics about the content of the Toddlers programme of Mellow Futures, and focused on trauma-informed, sensitive, and responsive care. We also practised strength-based video feedback and explored the Mellow Resource, discussing the ways Mellow provides ongoing support to our Practitioners.

Thanks to everyone who attended. See you at the next Mellow Connect event!

Our Story

Based on up to date research, Mellow Parenting designs programmes to address gaps in current service provision which help to address social and health inequalities.

The underpinning values are based on the psychological theories of attachment, social learning and cognitive behavioural therapy and focus on improving parent-child relationships, for either male or female caregivers, from the antenatal period up to age five.

Early intervention and attuned parenting in the early years has a long term effect in all areas of a child’s development.

Our training courses provide the tools to build safe, therapeutic and confidential environments to help parents connect with their children.
