This is a hard post to write and I’ve been putting it off for a long time. It may be long so please bare with me.

After nearly 10 years of creating your wonderful cakes and teaching many budding cake designers I’ve decided to hang up my apron. It’s not been an easy decision to make and I know many people think I’m insane for giving up, only those nearest to me know exactly the extent how the business has affected me physically and mentally over the last 10 years. The highs have been extremely high but the lows have been low. There have been many more highs than lows though. I’ve met so many amazing people and made many friends through the industry, the brides, grooms and families I have met over the years have been lovely. My students the laughs we have had from dropped cakes to challenges over stealing peoples cakes have been up there with the funniest moments I’ve had in life. Being involved in special birthdays and weddings have been really special and I feel honoured to have been trusted with such momentous moments in your lives.

So for now I’m spending time with my family and enjoying my children who are growing far too quickly in front of my eyes. I’m taking a new direction in life with a new passion. I’ll still be making the odd cake for fun with the children and the odd birthday cake for those closest to me but for now this is goodbye. The last Year has made me realise I’ve made the right decision, I have a few more wedding cakes this year in my diary to complete with the last 2 in September. I’ll make sure they’re some of my best work and to go out on a high.

A wee picture from last week. Elaine was 40 last week and her husband ordered this surprise cake for her. He chose a rich baileys chocolate cake and a Belgian chocolate cake, all with handmade sugar roses, eucalyptus and hydrangeas oh and some edible shimmer. Hello strangers, how you all doing? Im going to open up for a select number of birthday cakes this year and I will be opening for some classes nearer the autumn time for classes. Obviously things are ever changing with the current climate. Hope you're all keeping safe, we are all fine here thankfully. 🙂

Ps thank you to so many people messaging me and asking me if I’m ok, I’m totally fine and my family are too thankfully, just taking a little break to enjoy them
