😳😳😳“I’ve never had back pain before…” 😳😳😳

That’s what a 46-year-old said to me last week.

Desk-based job 💻
Long hours ⏱️
No real issues… until suddenly there was.

He stood up from his chair — and it was agony ⚡
Not stiffness. Not a ni**le.
Something properly wrong.

By the next day, it hadn’t settled 😬
So he came straight in.

In clinic, it was actually clear:

👉 Acute mechanical back pain
👉 Joints and muscles not coping with prolonged sitting 🪑
👉 No serious damage ✅

We kept it simple:

✔ Clear diagnosis 🧠
✔ Hands-on treatment 🤲
✔ A treatment plan explained and agreed 📋✅
✔ A few key exercises 🏃‍♂️
✔ Small changes to his desk set-up 💻

Nothing complicated.

Just getting in early and getting the right treatment at the right time ⏳

Too many people wait ⌛
And that’s when things become harder to fix.

If something doesn’t feel right — get it checked 👇

🌟 Meet Our 2026 Intern – Lucas 🌟

We have one final addition to our 2026 Internship group at Cram Osteopaths — and we are delighted to welcome Lucas, who is joining us at short notice. 🦴

Before arriving, we asked Lucas a few questions so you can get to know him a little better.

1️⃣ What made you want to become an osteopath?
At the age of 17, I experienced a severe ACL injury which brought an end to my professional football career. This shifted my focus towards understanding recovery and long-term prevention. That’s when I discovered osteopathy — its approach to identifying the root cause of problems aligned closely with my own perspective.

2️⃣ What are you most looking forward to learning during your internship?
I’m looking forward to developing my understanding of how treatment is adapted to each individual patient, as well as observing different clinical approaches. I’m keen to refine my practical skills and clinical reasoning in a real-world setting.

3️⃣ Why Cram Osteopaths?
Cram Osteopaths stands out for its long-standing history and consistent standard of care. That level of experience creates a strong and confident environment to learn in as a developing practitioner.

4️⃣ What are you most excited about seeing or experiencing in Glasgow?
I have never visited Scotland before, so I’m excited to experience somewhere completely new. I’m looking forward to getting a feel for Glasgow’s personality and culture.

We look forward to welcoming Lucas to the clinic and introducing him to the team. 👏

If you see any of our interns in the clinic, please do say hello! 👋

🌟 Meet Our 2026 Intern – Jude 🌟

Next week we welcome our 2026 Internship group to Cram Osteopaths for a week of clinical observation, learning and hands-on experience with our team. 🦴

Today we are introducing Jude, the final member of our 2026 intern group joining us in the clinic.

Before arriving, we asked Jude a few questions so you can get to know him a little better.

1️⃣ What made you want to become an osteopath?
I enjoy osteopathy’s goal of finding the root cause for each individual patient. I like the variation and range of approaches an osteopath can use to reach that goal. I’ve also found that the osteopaths I’ve met tend to be well-rounded, decent people, which is something I’d like to emulate in my own career.

2️⃣ What are you most looking forward to learning during your internship?
I’m looking forward to applying what I’ve learned in my university clinic to a successful practice with a large client base. Cram Osteopaths are well known for their hands-on technical skills, which I’m keen to learn from.

3️⃣ Why Cram Osteopaths?
I’m drawn to Cram’s efficient, community-based approach. My experience with the team so far has been consistently warm and knowledgeable.

4️⃣ What are you most excited about seeing or experiencing in Glasgow?
Food! I’m hoping to revisit Rafa’s on Hidden Lane for more of their tacos, and to finish the internship week with a Tennent’s with friends in the Southside.

We look forward to welcoming Jude and all of our 2026 interns to the clinic next week. 👏

It has been great introducing our 2026 intern group over the past few days, and we are excited to share some highlights from their week with us soon.

If you see any of our interns in the clinic next week, please say hello! 👋

🌟 Meet Our 2026 Intern – Coral 🌟

Next week we welcome our 2026 Internship group to Cram Osteopaths for a week of clinical observation, learning and hands-on experience with our team. 🦴

Today we are introducing Coral, one of this year’s interns joining us in the clinic.

Before arriving, we asked Coral a few questions so you can get to know her a little better.

1️⃣ What made you want to become an osteopath?
I developed scoliosis as a child and wanted to become an osteopath from the age of seven, after seeing how my osteopath was able to relieve my pain when several other manual therapies had not helped. I have always been fascinated by how the body works — my favourite word growing up was “esternocleidomastoideo”, the Spanish word for SCM!

2️⃣ What are you most looking forward to learning during your internship?
I am particularly interested in observing manual techniques and seeing how they are applied in practice. I am looking forward to gaining inspiration from watching treatments and continuing to build confidence in my own approach.

3️⃣ Why Cram Osteopaths?
Studying in a foreign country and language has been challenging at times, but the support and friendships I have made along the way have made all the difference. Visiting a family-run clinic with so much experience feels like a fantastic opportunity to continue developing as an osteopath.

4️⃣ What are you most excited about seeing or experiencing in Glasgow?
Having worked as a bartender during university, I have developed an interest in how spirits are made — especially whisky. After visiting Edinburgh last year and learning about Scotland’s “liquid gold”, I am excited to discover some local choices, along with Glasgow’s famous music scene.

We look forward to welcoming Coral to the clinic next week. 👏

Stay tuned as we introduce all of our 2026 interns over the coming days.

Today we are introducing Fintan, one of this year’s interns joining us in the clinic.

Before arriving, we asked Fintan a few questions so you can get to know him a little better.

1️⃣ What made you want to become an osteopath?
I’ve always had a strong interest in health and wellbeing, and I was particularly inspired by the osteopathic approach to finding the underlying source of problems in the body.

2️⃣ What are you most looking forward to learning during your internship?
I’m looking forward to learning more about the individual needs of each patient, as well as observing different styles and approaches to treatment.

3️⃣ Why Cram Osteopaths?
Cram Osteopaths inspires me with its impressive long tradition of osteopathy and its unique approach to patient care. The clinic offers a fantastic learning environment for staff and interns alike.

4️⃣ What are you most excited about seeing or experiencing in Glasgow?
I’m most excited about meeting Glaswegians and enjoying their great character and sense of humour. I’m also looking forward to exploring the city and seeing its architecture.

We look forward to welcoming Fintan to the clinic next week. 👏

🌟 Meet Our 2026 Intern – Benjamin 🌟

Next week we welcome our 2026 Internship group to Cram Osteopaths for a week of clinical observation, learning and hands-on experience with our team. 🦴

Today we are introducing Benjamin, one of this year’s interns.

Before arriving, we asked Benjamin a few questions so you can get to know him a little better.

1️⃣ What made you want to become an osteopath?
Before training as an osteopath, I spent over 15 years working in sales and marketing. I wanted to move into a career that was more meaningful and hands-on, where I could work directly with people and positively impact their wellbeing. Osteopathy’s approach to understanding how the body functions and moves really resonated with me.

2️⃣ What are you most looking forward to learning during your internship?
I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my clinical confidence and observing how experienced osteopaths approach assessment, clinical reasoning and treatment planning.

3️⃣ Why Cram Osteopaths?
The clinic’s reputation for thoughtful, patient-centred care and strong clinical standards really stood out to me.

4️⃣ What are you excited to experience in Glasgow?
I’m looking forward to experiencing Glasgow’s culture and spending time in the clinic learning from the team.

We look forward to welcoming Benjamin to the clinic next week. 👏

🙌🙌🙌 Friday Wins 🙌🙌🙌

One of the best parts of the week is hearing what patients have been able to get back to doing.

Not big headlines.
Just normal life again.

This week we’ve seen people:

🏋️ got back to the gym
🚶‍♂️ met friends for a walk
💻 sat at my desk without pain
🏃 ran 5k again
😴 slept through the night
⛳ played golf again

These are the moments that matter.

Small notes on the board…
but big wins for the people behind them 💚

Have a great weekend everyone ☀️

Nice to see the sunshine this weekend ☀️

Many of the team made the most of it — golf ⛳ walks 🚶‍♂️ and some fresh air outdoors 🌿

Now it’s Monday morning in the clinic and coffee is essential ☕😄

But it looks like the sun might make another appearance later… 🌤️

Who else is already on their second cup? 👀☕

🚨 Pain Is Your Body’s Alarm System… But It Is Not Always Accurate

Last week in Poland 🇵🇱 an air raid siren 🚨 suddenly started blaring across the ski resort. (It turned out to be a scheduled test.)

Within seconds the body reacted.
💓 Heart rate up
😮‍💨 Breathing quicker
👀 Everyone alert and wondering what was happening

The nervous system had switched straight into protection mode.

Pain works in a very similar way. It is the body’s alarm system 🚨. When it goes off, the brain assumes there may be danger. Muscles tighten 🧍, movement stops 🛑 and everything suddenly feels urgent.

But just like an alarm…
👉 Pain does not automatically mean damage.

If back pain or sciatica is limiting your movement 🚶, it may be time to have things properly assessed.

🦴🦵Sciatica symptons often change 🦴🦵

Sciatic pain does not always stay the same 🔄
It may shift from the back to the leg ➡️, change intensity 📈📉, or feel different day to day — especially with sitting 🪑, driving 🚗 or colder weather ❄️

These changes can be useful clues 🔍, helping to identify how the nerve is being irritated and what the spine needs to settle it 🧠🦴

Understanding those patterns is key 🔑 to choosing the right next step ✅
