Architecture Fringe 2018
Common Senses in Maryhill!!

Maryhill Pedal power- Connecting Cycling, Energy and Waste is a part of this year Architecture Fringe Festival. This Saturday ( 16th June). MARYHILL PEDAL POWER is part of the SUMMER ECO_FAIR. It counts with the support of National Lottery Awards for All Scotland, SportScotland and Creative Scotland and powered by Studio Pop and partner organisations. This initiative is held at the DOT TO DOT Maryhill Station www.dots.scot to develop a creative and inclusive outdoor programme, which is part of the remake framework REPLASTICO Energizing (Re)cycling led by Studio Pop. On 16th of June we celebrate last event of Maryhill Pedal Power with debut of Maryhill Pedal Power workshops documented movie by Brendan Crowther and documentary screening β€˜ Bikes VS Cars’ by WG films. ( β€˜Bikes vs Cars depicts a global crisis that we all deep down know we need to talk about: climate, earth's resources, cities where the entire surface is consumed by the car. An ever-growing, dirty, noisy traffic chaos. The bike is a great tool for change, but the powerful interests who gain from the private car invest billions each year on lobbying and advertising to protect their business. In the film we meet activists and thinkers who are fighting for better cities, who refuse to stop riding despite the increasing number killed in traffic.’)

It is only one week to DOT TO DOT summer party and closing fiesta of Maryhill Pedal Power! Join us for garden activities and first ever harvest session! We will be screening short documentary produced by Brendan Crowther on Maryhill Pedal Power and DOT TO DOT Maryhill Station as well few other videos capturing DOT TO DOT project progress and moments during the year time! Also few other video contributions of participating members.

We are happy to see that once derelict land is actually a productive plot , space for public gatherings , playground or greens oasis to escape from city ( as one lady on Saturday was referring to it ) . Well done everyone who contributed at least a tiny bit towards this project and common benefit of the environment and community! This project strengthens local community and creates diversity in local landscapes. VIVA LA COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT!
