Glasgow Cannabis Social Club

Glasgow Cannabis Social Club Glasgow Cannabis Club has been set up due to the overwhelming urgency for Cannabis Law Reform. The war on cannabis has failed, its time to adopt a new model

Cannabis clubs are forming all over Europe. The first stage is establishing the local community. Through this we can spread the truth about cannabis and its many medicinal uses that the media are not telling you about.

1. To end the prohibition of cannabis. Prohibition is a big, stupid and very expensive failure. It is brutal. It puts prejudice before people. The “war on drugs” is responsible for more death, destruction and despair than it prevents. History has shown that prohibition creates far more problems than it solves. In the 21st century we should expect far better solutions from our policy makers and governments.

2. To promote as a matter of urgency and compassion the prescription of medicinal cannabis by doctors. No reasonable human being can deny another relief from pain, suffering or disability. There is no rational argument against permitting access to medicinal cannabis for those who need it. The fact that the British government and the deeply rooted bureaucracy of the Home Office stand in the way is a deep and lasting shame on our nation.

3. To introduce a system of regulation for the production and supply of cannabis based on facts and evidence. Authoritative research from the Independent Drug Monitoring Unit proves that a cannabis tax and regulate regime in Britain would produce a boost to the UK economy of at least £6 billion per annum. That’s based on a cannabis tax of £1 per gram, massive savings in law enforcement costs but allowing for the cost of administering the system and providing additional healthcare and education services. All the evidence and experts agree that a responsibly regulated system would also reduce all health and social harms. NORMLl UK and the UKCSC DO NOT SUPPORT THE TAXATION OF HOME GROWING.

4. To encourage the production and use of industrial hemp. The prohibition of cannabis has caused huge damage to our society, environment and economy by preventing the cultivation of hemp. Although the industrial strains of the plant have no psychoactive potential, the absurd level of control has effectively destroyed its value as an agricultural crop. With that we have lost the most efficient producer of biomass in the natural world, the strongest natural fibre, a better fabric than cotton, a better paper than wood and one of the most ecologically important activities on the planet.

5. To educate and inform about the uses and benefits of cannabis. Prejudice is based on ignorance. In the case of cannabis there is also deliberate misinformation. It started with Randolph Hearst, the media, timber and oil magnate of the 1930s and it continues today with the vested interests of alcohol, tobacco, Big Pharma and, yes, media, timber and oil. The truth about cannabis is clear and we have to spread the truth in the face of ignorance and lies. PROHIBITION

The ban on cannabis possession, cultivation and supply has led to all these problems: bad quality, bad price, bad advice, increased risk to health, exposure to crime, social alienation, drug addiction, confused messages to children, loss of freedom, abuse of our Human Rights, wasted police and court time, overcrowding of prisons, public dependence on drug companies and petrol companies (yes, cannabis could replace fossil and nuclear fuels!), pollution and public fear. It has taken the control of our lives away from us and put it into the hands of multi-national conglomerates and drug dealers. THOSE PROBLEMS END WHEN THE LAW IS CHANGED. People think cannabis and intelligence don’t mix.
That you can’t be smart, sharp, scientific, and still have a relationship with this plant.

But here’s the part they never teach you…

The oldest mathematical textbook on Earth — the Bakhshali Manuscript — wasn’t written on fragile papyrus or animal skin.

It was written on h**p.

And when modern scientists re-tested the fibres in 2017, they found something nobody expected:
trace terpenoids still locked inside the pages.

Meaning the very foundation of algebra — the formulas that went on to create engineering, physics, computers, satellites, navigation, and modern technology — was literally penned onto cannabis fibres still carrying cannabis compounds.

While today’s governments call the plant “dangerous,” ancient scholars used it to record the birth of mathematics.

Let that sink in:

Cannabis didn’t make humans stupid.
It helped build the most advanced knowledge our species has ever created.

And they still want to call us the problem?

Please.

Another one sparks the bud! Well some time ago now... I didn't know Luxembourg was legal...

Meanwhile in the UK......

🇱🇺 LUXEMBOURG: LEGAL (PRIVATE & MEDICAL USE)

✅ LEGAL
• Adults (18+) may:
* Cultivate up to 4 cannabis plants per household
* Possess and store their full home-grown harvest at home for personal use (no set limit)
* Consume cannabis in private spaces
* Access medical cannabis by prescription from trained doctors (dispensed via hospital pharmacies)

❌ ILLEGAL
• Public use and commercial sales remain prohibited
• Possession of more than 3 grams in public is subject to fines
• Driving under the influence is strictly banned

📜 LAW: Cannabis Reform Act, July 2023

Luxembourg became the first EU country to legalise private cultivation and use of cannabis for adults, while also maintaining a regulated medical cannabis programme (established 2018, active since 2019). Public consumption and commercial distribution are still restricted, with future reforms under consideration.

Well done South Africa! Another country to see there is a better solution.

Meanwhile here in the UK we are arguing about minor cannabinoids, have a medical Monopoly, have no interest in decriminalisation of people who choose to use this plant for whatever reason.

It's even more hypocritical now that the UK GOV have finally admitted it has useful properties and fundamentals in the development of humans....

Yet decriminalisation would send "the wrong message"

We know the message the UK GOV are sending by taking no action to decriminalise.

They keep it illegal for political ideology that conveniently has many financial benefits and control mechanisms in society.

I wonder if the UK will actually be the last to decriminalise? You know....now they are making money from medical cannabis this unfortunately gives the government great incentive to keep the status quo.

I can see Dubai legalising before we do

🇿🇦 SOUTH AFRICA: LEGAL

• Adults (18+) may:
* Cultivate up to 4 plants per adult / 8 plants per household (for private use)
* Possess up to 600g dried cannabis per adult (12,000g household limit)
* Share (gift) up to 30 seeds/seedlings or 100g dried cannabis privately — no payment allowed
* Consume cannabis in private spaces

💊 MEDICAL USE
• Medical cannabis is legal with a prescription under the Medicines and Related Substances Act.
• Only licensed cultivators and registered pharmacies may produce and dispense medical cannabis products.
• Oversight is managed by the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA).
• These products are typically prescribed for chronic pain, nausea, epilepsy, and related conditions.

❌ ILLEGAL
• Public use and commercial sales (for recreational use) remain prohibited
• Driving under the influence is strictly banned
• Use or possession by minors (under 18) is not permitted

🇲🇹 Malta: A European First in Cannabis Reform 🌿

In December 2021, Malta became the first EU country to legalise recreational cannabis — setting a bold example for responsible regulation.

✨ What’s Legal:
• Adults (18+) can possess up to 7 g of cannabis.
• Households may grow up to 4 plants and store 50 g (dried).
🌱 Cannabis Social Clubs (CSCs):
• Non-profit clubs can have up to 500 members.
• Members can receive up to 7 g per day and 50 g per month.
• Clubs must follow strict rules — no locations near schools or youth centres.

⚖️ Oversight:
The Authority on the Responsible Use of Cannabis (ARUC) regulates licensing, compliance, and enforcement — ensuring safe, community-based use.

🚫 Restrictions:
Public consumption is still prohibited, with fines of up to €235 for violations.

Malta continues to be one of the countries leading the way in Europe’s evolving approach to cannabis reform. 🌍💚

Has anyone seen a dedicated medical cannabis area at any UK festivals yet?

Just wondering how folks are getting on taking prescriptions to festivals, feeling comfortable medicating, keeping charge in the v**e over multiple days?

Giving up on the battery life and restoring to traditional methods?

If you support more medical cannabis safe spaces let us know!
