πŸ“£ Yesterday, our CEO, Ronnie, proudly represented Refugee Sanctuary Scotland at **The ALLIANCE Conference** 🌍✨.

🀝 Ronnie joined a powerful panel with partners from across the refugee sector.
πŸ’¬ The focus: tackling negative rhetoric towards people seeking sanctuary.
βš–οΈ Exploring the gap between perception vs reality.

🚫 Harmful narratives affect real lives.
πŸ’› But together, we can challenge them.

The discussion highlighted how we can:
πŸ“Š Share evidence and facts.
πŸ—£οΈ Amplify lived experiences.
🀝 Work collectively to shift the narrative.
🌈 Build more compassionate, welcoming communities.

✨ Stronger together, we stand in solidarity with asylum seekers, refugees and migrants. ✨

πŸ™Œ Thank you to everyone involved in such an important conversation.

✨ Workshop 4: *Mindful Words Walk* ✨

Last Friday we wandered through Kelvingrove Park πŸŒΏπŸ‘£, tuning into sounds 🎢, colours 🎨, textures πŸƒ, and little moments often missed. Words and phrases flowed in many languages πŸ“πŸ’¬, later turning into poems, reflections, and free writing at our picnic spot πŸ§Ίβ˜€οΈ

Happening around Eid πŸŒ™ and the spring equinox πŸŒΈβš–οΈ, it felt like a perfect moment for connection, balance, and new beginnings 🌱✨

We reflected on change πŸ‚βž‘οΈπŸŒΌ, movement, and what it means to be part of nature πŸŒπŸ’š β€” all while creating pieces that will live on in our final book πŸ“–

We ended the day with a peaceful organ recital 🎹 inside Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum πŸ›οΈ β€” the perfect close to a mindful day πŸ’«

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination ✊🏽🌍

At Refugee Sanctuary Scotland, we stand firm in the belief that every person deserves dignity, respect, and compassion β€” regardless of race, ethnicity, or where they come from ❀️🀝

We envision a world with fairer, more humane immigration policies that uphold and protect human rights for all πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ“œ

Our CEO, Ronnie advises, you can make a difference:
πŸ“© Write to your MSP and urge them to take action
πŸ—£οΈ Start a conversation and help educate someone in your community
πŸ’› Stand in solidarity with people seeking safety and belonging

Together, we can challenge discrimination and build a more just and welcoming society 🌈✨

🎨✨ Creative Common Ground – Week 3 ✨🎨

Last week, Friday 13 March 2026, we held the third session of our Creative Common Ground art project, led by the lovely πŸ’š β€” which means we’re now halfway through our 6-week course! πŸ™Œ

This workshop focused on lino printing πŸ–ŒοΈπŸ–ΌοΈ. Participants reflected on our visit to GOMA the week before and chose something that had caught their attention πŸ‘€πŸŽ. Using that inspiration, everyone created a personal symbol of joy 🌞✨ which became the motif for their print design.

We then experimented with different colours and techniques 🎨 to bring the designs to life β€” and the results were beautiful!

It was a brilliant session filled with creativity, conversation and connection πŸ€πŸ’¬

πŸ‘‰ Swipe to see their wonderful creations!

We can’t wait for next week already! πŸ’šπŸŽ¨

πŸ’š Help us continue 30 years of welcoming people seeking sanctuary πŸ’š

So far in 2026, we’ve raised Β£2,335 to support people seeking safety. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far β€” your support is already making a real difference.

For 30 years, RSS has been supporting people seeking sanctuary. At the end of last year we finally received the keys to our new hub β€” a dedicated place where people can find support, connection and a warm welcome. Your donations also help us keep the doors open, run activities in the hub, and ensure people have somewhere safe and supportive to come.

Your generosity helps us provide:
🏠 Safe places to stay
πŸ’· Emergency financial support
🚌 Travel support
βš–οΈ Access to legal services
πŸ’š Health & wellbeing support
🀝 Activities, support and a welcoming space in our new hub

One of our long-standing monthly donors shared why this work matters:

β€œI have been a monthly donor to RSS for more than 10 years. Having worked closely with many of the people referred to their assistance services, I know how vital their work is. For someone newly arrived to learn that they might have to travel hundreds of miles to lodge their asylum claim and have no money to do so is at best daunting, but usually absolutely terrifying. Travel funds ease that stress and pressure immensely.”

If you’re able, please consider donating today. Every contribution helps us continue welcoming and supporting people when they need it most.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers in our community and to refugee mothers around the world. πŸ’πŸŒ

Today we celebrate your strength, resilience, and the endless love you carry for your children. Many mothers in our community have travelled long and difficult journeys, showing extraordinary courage to protect and build a better future for their families. πŸ’›

We also hold close in our hearts the mothers who are separated from their children by borders, conflict, and circumstance. Even when you are far apart, your love reaches across every distance. Your children carry your love with them every day, no matter where they are in the world. ❀️

To every mother who nurtures, protects, sacrifices, and hopes β€” we see you, we honour you, and we celebrate you today. 🌸

From all of us at Refugee Sanctuary Scotland, we wish you a day filled with love, strength, and hope. Your courage inspires us all. ✨

Happy Mother’s Day. πŸ’•
