🔹 Black dots (blood vessels)
🔹 Pain when walking or standing

👉 Don't ignore it – the longer it's there, the harder it can be to treat!

Cross Country Season Is in Full Swing

That means early mornings, muddy trails… and yes, the occasional ankle roll on those uneven, slippery, courses.

It’s easy to get caught up chasing miles, but what you do after the run matters just as much as the run itself.

Don’t skip your cool-down.

Take a few minutes to gently stretch your calves, hamstrings, and feet - your future self will thank you.

Let recovery be your secret weapon:

👟 Check your shoes – worn-out soles can cost you more than time
🧊 Ice any sore spots – reduce inflammation before it sets in
🦶 Strengthen your feet & ankles – stability starts from the ground up
🧘 Stretch it out – mobility is key to staying injury-free
Stay smart. Stay strong. Stay running.

Those recurring aches need investigated, book a biomechanical assessment at link in bio or visit www.am-podiatry.co.uk

When did you last check the condition of your shoes...especially your "favourites"

Worn-out footwear can be a major culprit behind foot pain and even issues with your leg muscles.

Signs your shoes are worn out:

❌ Flattened soles: If the tread is gone or the sole is compressed, it's time for a new pair.

❌ Uneven wear: If one side of your sole is more worn than the other, it can indicate gait (the way you walk) issues.

❌ Lack of cushioning: Your shoes should still feel supportive and absorb impact.

❌ Tears or holes: Obvious damage means they're no longer providing proper protection.

What to look for in new shoes to keep your feet happy and healthy:

✅ Good arch support: This helps distribute pressure evenly and supports your natural foot shape.

✅ Proper fit: Ensure there's a thumb's width between your longest toe and the end of the shoe when standing.

✅ Adequate cushioning: Look for shoes that absorb shock and provide comfort.

✅ Flexible sole: The shoe should bend at the ball of your foot, not in the middle.

✅ Breathable materials: To prevent moisture buildup and keep your feet healthy.

Don't let worn-out shoes lead to discomfort. Invest in your foot health. If you're experiencing foot or leg pain, schedule a biomechanical appointment with us today

❄️ Is winter giving you painful, itchy, burning toes? It might not just be cold feet—it could be Chilblains!

These small, itchy, red patches are caused by sudden warming of cold skin. They are often mild but can be very painful and cause blistering.

Prevention Tip:
Warm up slowly! Avoid placing cold feet directly on radiators or in hot baths. Wear warm, dry socks.

If you have persistent pain, blistering, or are struggling with discomfort, our podiatrists can help manage your symptoms and prevent infection. Especially important if you have diabetes or circulation issues.
