Advocacy remains a core part of our mission, and in 2025–2026 we will amplify our voice even further.

Thriving Survivors will continue to lead national conversations on sibling sexual abuse, place lived experience at the centre of policy development, and champion campaigns that promote equity, dignity and systemic change.

Our goal is not only to support individuals but to influence the systems around them. When we challenge stigma and raise visibility, we create safer outcomes for current and future survivors.

If your organisation is aligned with this work, we welcome collaboration.

Accredited learning is fast becoming one of the most transformative areas of our work.

Following the success of our SQA Customised Award pilot, we are preparing to launch the first full cohort of Pathway Practitioner training. This marks a major step forward in building a national and international model for trauma informed education.

Our next phase includes developing a practitioner membership scheme, complete with CPD resources, professional development pathways and a community of practice.

By embedding accredited learning into our strategic vision, we aim to strengthen the sector, raise standards and position Thriving Survivors as a leader in trauma informed training.

If you’re interested in training opportunities for your organisation, we would love to speak with you.

Merry Christmas from everyone at Thriving Survivors.

At this time of year, we pause to recognise the strength of every survivor we support, the commitment of our team and mentors, and the partners who stand alongside us. Your belief in our work makes a real difference.

Whether you are celebrating, resting or simply taking time for yourself, we hope the festive season brings moments of peace and connection.

Thank you for being part of our community.

As we look ahead, Thriving Survivors is focused on building on the progress of 2024–2025 and delivering a future where support is faster, more accessible and grounded in innovation.

One of our biggest challenges is the scale of need. With more than 650 people currently on our waiting list, reducing waiting times is our top priority.

To meet demand, we are expanding group programmes including Steady Ground and Discovering Me, recruiting additional mentors and counsellors, and developing tiered support options that include digital resources and peer led spaces.

The aim is simple. No survivor should have to wait to feel safe, supported or believed.

If you would like to understand more about our expansion plans or partner with us in this work, please reach out.

Sometimes the most powerful evidence of impact comes from the words of survivors themselves.

“Thriving Survivors has been life changing for me. I felt seen, understood and accepted. I no longer feel alone.”
Survivor A

This is why we do what we do.

Every person who seeks support deserves to be heard, believed, and supported without judgement. Our trauma informed approach is designed to create exactly that environment.

Their courage and their progress drive everything we do as an organisation.

If you’d like to play a part in helping more survivors access life-changing support, we’d welcome a conversation.

Our evaluation also provides essential insight into who we work with and the realities they face.

The majority of survivors we supported this year were aged 26 to 35, followed closely by those aged 36 to 45.
55 percent identify as female, 40 percent as male, and 5 percent as non-binary.

Most significantly, 80 percent of those who came to us were survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
A further 14 percent experienced domestic violence, and 6 percent disclosed other forms of trauma.

These numbers remind us why our work matters. Behind every statistic is a person seeking safety, understanding and a chance to rebuild.

One of the clearest messages from this year’s evaluation is how vital lived experience is in building trust and resilience.

In Stage 1 Mentoring, survivors consistently highlighted the empathy and understanding they received from mentors who have walked their own healing journey. That shared experience creates connection, reduces isolation, and helps survivors believe that recovery is possible.

In Stage 2 Counselling, participants praised the professionalism and compassion of our therapists, with many reporting meaningful progress in managing trauma symptoms and reducing the impact of complex PTSD.

By the time survivors reach Stage 3 Discovering Me, they describe a renewed sense of identity. They begin to reconnect with who they are beyond trauma, exploring wellbeing, confidence, and personal growth.

This three-stage pathway remains one of the clearest strengths of our organisation.

Empowerment is one of the strongest themes emerging from our annual evaluation.

Survivors shared that they feel more confident, more able to understand their emotions, and more in control of their future. Many spoke about rediscovering a sense of hope that had felt lost for years.

This is why our three-stage programme exists.
Stage 1 Mentoring creates stability, connection and trust.
Stage 2 Counselling offers the professional, trauma informed space needed to process what happened.
Stage 3 Discovering Me supports survivors to rebuild identity, purpose and confidence beyond trauma.

Each stage plays a role in helping people rebuild their lives in a way that feels safe and sustainable.

Wellbeing is one of the clearest indicators of progress for people recovering from trauma, and this year’s evaluation shows just how far survivors are able to come when the right support is in place.

91.1 percent of survivors reported a noticeable improvement in their emotional wellbeing.

They described feeling more regulated, more confident, and more hopeful about their future. These are not small shifts. They are life-changing ones.

The data reinforces what survivors tell us every day. With patience, consistency and the right people beside them, they can reclaim parts of life that once felt out of reach.

If you want to understand more about our wellbeing impact or discuss partnership opportunities, we’d love to talk.

Thriving Survivors’ annual evaluation gives a powerful insight into the real impact of trauma informed support.

This year’s results reflect not only the strength of our programmes but the bravery of every survivor who walks through our doors.

Safety and trust remain at the heart of everything we do.
97.8 percent of survivors told us they felt safe.
Every single participant expressed full trust in their mentor.

These foundations matter. Without safety and trust, healing cannot begin. With them, survivors can move forward at their own pace, in their own way.

Our trauma informed approach continues to prove that when people feel believed and supported, change becomes possible.
