The Patterns That Hold You Back
and pain in place, let's think ... if you hold a lordosis (swayback by default), what do you think happens in class?
Yep all poses are done with your swayback, enhancing the issue, same with flat feet, soft pelvic floor, head forward posture... getting the picture?
When I watch a client at their first session, they tend to do
ONE OF THREE THINGS
ONE: Flop without resistance (usually hypermobile and in pain, heading for osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis)
TWO: Adopt their default posture in every pose, wherever possible, enhancing the issue
THREE: Push themselves to the limit, thinking that's what it takes to achieve their goals. But most of us fall into patterns that hold us back - patterns adopted to avoid pain triggers that are actually no longer there.

5 Common Patterns to Watch Out For
1. Holding Your Breath: Stiffle breath, tension builds 💆♀️
2. Tensing Up: Scrunch the face, strain in the body 🤦♀️
3. Negative Self-Talk: Feel not good enough, self-doubt creeps in 💔
4. Muscle Tension: Lock the muscle (feels like wood), rigid and inflexible 🌳
5. Forcing the Stretch: Push into the direction of the stretch opening, ignoring your body's signals 🚨
