PLEASE HELP us to re-cycle your contact lenses.
If you regularly flush your worn contact lenses down the toilet or wash hand basin - PLEASE STOP!!! Far too many used contact lenses are finding their way in to our rivers and oceans where they can be mistaken for a food source by our fish and marine wildlife. Contact lenses are able to pass through many filtration systems and are almost impossible to see when immersed in water. It doesn’t matter where you buy your contact lenses from or what make they are. Thanks to our colleagues at Johnson & Johnson, we have a recycling bin at our Byres Road branch of Currie & Quirk Opticians so please bring them to us so we can help reduce the amount of plastic in our oceans and rivers. Dispose of your cardboard packaging in the normal way, but bring us the plastic trays they come in, the foil covering, AND your used lenses. Thank you.
