Cerebral Palsy Scotland

Cerebral Palsy Scotland Specialist therapy, support and information for people with cerebral palsy. We’re ambitious for people with cerebral palsy.

We’re a charity that improves the lives of children and adults with cerebral palsy through specialist therapy, support and information. For over 25 years our therapists have worked alongside people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers, helping them develop practical skills which transform daily life. Founded by a group of determined parents whose children were unable to get the specialised therapy they needed close to home, we’re the only cerebral palsy charity in Scotland. As we’ve grown, the cerebral palsy community continues to be at the heart of everything we do. Our groups reduce isolation, bringing people with cerebral palsy and their families together. Our support service offers a listening ear and advice. We share our knowledge and skills through courses, conferences and working collaboratively. We raise awareness and we campaign for life-long access to knowledgeable, compassionate services and support. Every day in Scotland, people with cerebral palsy are not getting enough support. We need your donations to power our work, so that every person with cerebral palsy can reach their full potential.

5-year-old Arlo was born via an emergency c-section and had seizures in the first few days of his life. 6 months later, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Mum Christine told us, “It’s like he is locked in this body that doesn’t allow him to move”. Arlo attends sessions at Cerebral Palsy Scotland, and recently attended our communication group. “If Cerebral Palsy Scotland didn’t exist there would be limited support” says Christine.

As we come to the end of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, please make a donation to our services. Every penny counts.

We are Scotland’s only cerebral palsy charity. We provide specialist therapy and support for children and adults with cerebral palsy across Scotland. £10 could pay for a specialist toy for a child…

23-year-old Fraser has been coming to Cerebral Palsy Scotland for specialist therapy since he was a child. Fraser is an advocate for the CP community and wants to ensure that people with cerebral palsy have their voices heard. Fraser told us, “Accessing services at Cerebral Palsy Scotland has had a hugely positive impact on my life. The support I’ve received has helped me feel more confident, more independent, and less isolated. Knowing there are people who understand my experiences and genuinely listen has made a real difference to my wellbeing.”

Eight-year-old Johnathon comes to Cerebral Palsy Scotland for specialist physiotherapy. Mum Caeleigh told us, “Without Cerebral Palsy Scotland, Johnny wouldn’t have had access to physiotherapy. I think I would still be at rock bottom and we’d be lost. The therapy and support we have received has been genuinely life-changing.”

This Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month we’d love to hear from you. Your experiences can help someone who is new to the cerebral palsy community feel seen, understood, and welcomed.
If you’d like to take part, simply choose one question that speaks to you and share your thoughts in the comments. If you’d rather share privately to your loved ones, that’s absolutely welcomed too. The main thing is to keep the conversation going and to help voices from the cerebral palsy community heard.

You might start your reply with something like:
- “What I wish I knew earlier…”
- “Advice I would give to parents who have children with cerebral palsy…”
- “A task I find harder is…”
Your story could be exactly what someone else needs to hear today.
