A happy new year to all our patients.

Last year we conducted a survey with some patients asking what extra services they would like to see us offer.

Nothing could have prepared us for the response as, over the course of just a few short weeks, an email flooded in.

It asked if we could be more accessible for those patients, often younger, who due to autism can find a busy practice daunting.

Accordingly from February we will be running weekly 'quiet clinics' after normal closing where we will deal with only one patient at a time in practice. No other patients will be in practice during these clinics which will run 5-6pm on Wednesdays.

If you feel you or a loved one may benefit from a quiet clinic please call 01355 570686 for East Kilbride, 01505 321100 for Johnstone, or email sgbopticians@live.co.uk.

Please note there is no charge for these clinics.

Should you suffer an ocular emergency in that time you can call 07769 782 073 (excluding Christmas Day when NHS 24 should be called).

Please note both practices will have reduced clinical availability this week: our optometrist is reluctantly attempting to emulate KLF burning through 1million pounds by spending 4 nights at center parcs.

Both East Kilbride and Johnstone practices will close for Christmas at 4pm on Monday 23rd, re-opening Friday 27th.

Should you have an ocular emergency (loss of vision, eye pain etc) between Monday and Friday I can be contacted on 07769 782 073, except Christmas Day.

If you require urgent advice on Christmas Day please call NHS 24 on 111. Alternatively you could consult the fortune-telling fish you may receive in your Christmas cracker. It won't do much for your sightless suppurating eye but you'll likely feel better when the miracle floppy fish confirms you to be the red hot lover you always knew you were.

As an independent optician we deal with over 20 different frame suppliers. That means we can source frames of all shapes and sizes. So if you have a head sized like a tennis ball or a beach ball, or even Gary Barlow's son, we'll find a frame that fits.

Following the weekend's ticketing shenanigans we have decided to adopt the Oasis dynamic pricing policy.

Both practices are fully-booked for the next month so accordingly our cheapest glasses will now be priced at £3,000. Please note your glasses may offer a restricted view and there's every chance the practice team will split up acrimoniously before they're even ready. We might also pronounce "sunshine" in an absurd, affected manner.
