🇬🇧 Congratulations Christina 🇬🇧

We are delighted to congratulate Christina Murray on winning a Bronze medal at the Deaflympics!

Christina, from Kirkcaldy, plays locally for Thornton Hibs Ladies and is well known for her speed on the football pitch. She was selected for the GB team earlier this year and has been travelling down to England for regular training with the team.

Christina and the team travelled to Japan last month to take on the host country, USA and Australia. After some tough matches in the groups stages, the GB team showed their strength and resilience to make it to the bronze medal match against Australia. They won 2-0 to finish in 3rd place and come home with the bronze medal! A fantastic achievement for all the team, especially teenager Christina.

Christina has always had the most amazing support from her family. Her dad and grandad could always be found at the side of the athletics track or football pitch encouraging her. Her mum and sisters always showed their support too. The Deaflympics was no different, despite being on the other side of the world, her dad Christian, managed to travel to Japan to see Christina play in some of the biggest matches of her life to date. The rest of the family supported from home - everyone watching on with pride!

Everyone at Disability Sport Fife are extremely proud of Christina. She has followed her passion and shown skill, determination and talent every step of the way. She’s now had the most incredible experience, which will no doubt be only the start of her journey and has created memories that will last a lifetime.

Congratulations Christina!
