✨ It Can Affect The Pain Felt In Your Body… Even Your Knees! ✨
Jaw clenching and poor posture are often linked, as poor posture can increase tension in the jaw, leading to pain, while jaw clenching can contribute to poor posture. This can create a cycle where forward head posture stresses the neck and jaw, while clenching further tightens muscles and disrupts whole body alignment.
The jaw is part of a larger kinetic chain. When jaw alignment is off due to clenching or other issues, it can cause the head to shift forward, creating a cascade of tension that affects the spine, hips, and even knees.
Stress is a major trigger for jaw clenching, and a sedentary or demanding job that promotes poor posture can be a significant source of stress, creating a feedback loop.
If you’re having TMJ issues you need to talk to your dentist. A quick test that can indicate issues… can you put three fingers (vertically) in your mouth (this should be without pain).
Massage can help you feel less stressed and can help to relax the muscles. It can also reduce tension headaches 🙌
