I promise i'm not sharing these to brag, though I am so proud of this community that you're all helping to build ❤️

My main aim is to give confidence to anyone who is unsure about starting to lift weights 💪

Even if it's not with me and Living-Stronger 🍒

If I can help motivate more women to lift weights, then I'm gonna keep preaching, sharing, and ranting (not that I've ever stopped doing this 😉)

Today is officially Blue Monday. January always seems a bit of a drab time… if you let it.

A few deep breaths and gentle movement can do wonders for the mind and that’s exactly what we aim to do in our a Pilates classes 💙 (with perhaps a few tougher exercises throw in to keep you in your toes)

We're back and we're open, despite the snow 🥶

Please do be carful if travelling out today. Our classes aren't going any where if its safer for you to do a catchup when there's less snow.

We've been working fiercely over the holidays decorating and cleaning. Enya's been learning Johns tradesman skills 👩‍🔧Cherry's been scrubbing, dusting and organising 🦸‍♀️Johns been giving the strict instructions and fixing all that's been needing it, as well as what Enya took out along the way 😬🔧 We've had in Enya's very talented friends with their keen eye and steady hands 👀🧑‍🎨

Our tutors have been planning and prepping, ready to get you back out of the holiday relaxation!

Our amazing receptionists Freya and Sheena, made a very wise decision to leave before the business and snow came. Freya saw the New Year in, in Sri Lanka, and Sheena will be absent till Feb as she suns it up in Australia. Definitely NOT jealous 😉

Happy New Year, lets make 2026 another amazing year of stretching, strengthening, laughing and cursing the tutors who forget how many reps you're on 😉

If you have osteoporosis or osteopenia our teachers at the Pilates Studio on Surrey Street are trained to adapt Pilates classes to keep you safe whilst getting all the benefits of Modern Pilates which has a more clinical approach .
It can help prevent fractures and maintain good posture, whilst developing good lifting techniques .
We have chair based classes if you don’t want to go to the floor .

One thing the research is very clear on:

Strength training becomes more important as we age not less.

For women in their 50s, 60s and 70s, appropriate strength training helps:
• Preserve muscle
• Support bone density
• Improve balance
• Protect joints
• Maintain independence

But “appropriate” is the key word.

This stage of life doesn’t need punishment or pressure.
It needs structure, good form, and thoughtful progression.

When strength training is done properly, it becomes one of the most powerful tools we have for ageing well 🩷

It’s beginning to feel like Christmas, amounts to a busy time of filming for my online weights group . My Saturday morning amazing group in their jumpers, though numbers were low today , I guess it’s Christmas 😜.
My last Pilates class at the Studio in 2025 and my littles loves bottom, my baby grandaughter the best present ever !!!!
