Huge congratulations to everyone who raced yesterday 👏
Whether you smashed a PB, completed your first race, or just got to the finish line — that’s a massive achievement.

Recovery is just as important as training, so take the next few days to refuel, rest, and reset.

Remember — how you recover now sets you up for your next goal 🏃‍♀️

💙 World Parkinson’s Day 💙

Parkinson’s affects everyone differently — and it’s not just physical.

While many people think of movement symptoms like tremor or stiffness, it can also impact mood, energy levels, sleep, and overall wellbeing.

That’s why awareness, understanding, and support are so important.

A big shoutout to Cheltenham parkrun for turning things blue this weekend in support 💙👏

Movement remains one of the most powerful tools we have — helping to maintain mobility, confidence, and independence at every stage.

If you or someone you know is living with Parkinson’s, physiotherapy can play a key role in helping you stay active and moving well.

Huge congratulations to Gary 👏

Becoming the first person in the UK to pace 100 marathons is an incredible achievement — a true testament to consistency, resilience, and dedication to helping others achieve their goals 🏃‍♂️

Pacing isn’t just about running the distance… it’s about supporting, motivating, and carrying others through some of their toughest moments.

100 marathons of doing exactly that is something special 💯

Massive respect, Gary — what a milestone! 🙌

How much exercise do you actually need each week? 🤔

For general health and injury prevention, current guidelines recommend:

✅ 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week
or
🔥 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week
plus
💪 2 strength sessions targeting all major muscle groups

This could look like:
• 30-minute brisk walks, 5 days a week
• Two short strength sessions focusing on legs, core, and upper body

Regular movement helps maintain:
✔ Joint health
✔ Muscle strength
✔ Balance and mobility
✔ Long-term injury resilience

Not sure where to start or how to progress?
Or perhaps you’ve got a few niggles that keep flaring up? 👀

A physiotherapy assessment can help you:
🔍 Identify weak points
📈 Build a safe progression plan
🛠 Prevent small issues becoming bigger injuries

If you’re unsure what’s right for your body, Glos Physio is here to help!

What an incredible atmosphere at the race this weekend! 👏

A huge well done to everyone who took part — whether you were chasing a PB, running your first event, or just soaking up the experience. The determination, energy, and support along the route made it a fantastic event to watch.

I’m really looking forward to hearing all about your races when I see you in clinic this week — the highs, the tough miles, and everything in between. You should all be very proud of yourselves!

Now that race day is done, it’s time to focus on recovery and getting your body ready for the next challenge. 🏃‍♂️

The days following a race are just as important as the training beforehand. Prioritise gentle movement, hydration, good nutrition, and sleep to help your muscles repair and reduce the risk of injury.

If you’re feeling any lingering aches, tightness, or niggles, don’t ignore them — early treatment can make all the difference in getting you back to training safely and confidently.

Race week doesn’t need to be complicated.
You’ve already done the hard training; now it’s about recovery, fuelling and sticking to what you know works.

Focus on:
• Good carbohydrate intake in the final days
• Consistent hydration
• Avoiding any last-minute changes to shoes, kit or nutrition

Keep it simple and give yourself the best chance of a strong race day.

Gloucester Half Marathon is just around the corner! This week is all about the taper – dialling back your training to ensure your body is fresh and ready for race day.

Here are a few key things to focus on:

😴 Sleep: Prioritise getting 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. This is crucial for muscle repair and energy restoration.
🥙Nutrition: Fuel your body with nutrient-dense foods. Focus on complex carbohydrates to top up your glycogen stores, and stay well-hydrated.
💦Hydration: Keep sipping water throughout the day, even if you’re not training as intensely. Proper hydration is vital for performance.
🏃‍♀️Trust Your Training: You’ve put in the hard work, now it’s time to trust your body and your preparation. Avoid any last-minute intense workouts or trying new things.

Good luck to all the runners participating! Glos Physio is here to support you every step of the way.
