As a holistic therapist with over 22 yrs experience it has come to my attention recently that something needs to be addressed, to not only safeguard our client's but also ourselves.
There are rules to adhere by, a code of practice.
If your new to this and have never had a healing treatment these are the basic rules to follow;
1. It's always best to seek out a therapist by word of mouth. Research, look up their credentials and reviews.
Every therapist should have insurance and qualifications at hand. Speak with them beforehand to obtain information and to get a vibe you've chosen the right individual. If not walk away...
If your planning to see them in a 1:1 private setting, let someone you trust know where you are and what time you appointment ends.
2. When you turn up at your appointment, be aware of your surroundings especially the exist route if needed in a emergency.
3. Your therapist should explain everything you need to know before they start. Whether there's any hands on techniques involved.
Any questions or worries you may have should be discussed at the time.
4. For any type of healing,
you do not need to undress apart from socks, tights and footwear when necessary.
If your therapist insists you strip off and lay on the couch bare chested or naked and uncovered, do not comply.
5. In no circumstances should you be made to feel uncomfortable. If you are touched or caressed in an inappropriate sexual manner on a private area of your body. Get up, collect your belongings and leave immediately...
6. If at any time throughout the session you are directed to do something out of the ordinary where you think it's inappropriate, do not comply.
7. Listen to your gut, if it feels wrong, it is wrong!!
If this has happened to you or a friend, do not stay silent.
If it's happened to you, there may be multiple victims. Please, please report it so we collectively stop the perpetrators male or female doing this under the radar...
My client's safety is and always will be the upmost priority along with my own.
I will not tolerate this behaviour and will report anyone found to be breaking the rules to the appropriate authorities.
We need to stamp out sexual predators from this line of work.
Be forever watchful...👀
