🫠There’s a few common top causes for neck and back pain in my experience- one of the most underrated reasons is Chronic stress 😩
Chronic stress is ongoing stress which has last over 2 weeks - when we look at how it affects your nervous system and your body.
🫠A hormonal cascade occurs when your body continues to perceive a threat over time, this releases substances including cortisol into your body - which when left to build up can cause tight muscles.
😮💨 Your breathing is also different when you’re stressed.
- Notice if you’re holding your breath? Breathe out
- Relax your jaw
- Drop your shoulders
Move your body 💃🏻 Gentle movement will help release muscle tension
🚩 Remind your body - its safe!
Your body cannot tell the difference between a perceived threat and an OBJECTIVELY REAL threat.
Say ‘I am safe’ to yourself until you believe it.
🍁 Take some time for yourself to disconnect (how ever long you have 5 mins/ an hour)
No distractions, allow yourself to be inaccessible for that time. You do NOT have to be on call all the time - essentially putting your body in hyper alert mode.
