The Incredible Web Beneath Our Skin 🕸️
Our fascia, the intricate, intelligent web of connective tissue is so much more than anatomy. It’s the internal landscape that holds us together, communicating between muscles, organs, and even our emotions.
I’m endlessly fascinated by the body’s innate intelligence, and its ability to adapt, heal and constantly move toward equilibrium when we give it the space to do so.
From an energetic perspective, fascia is deeply intertwined with the nadis, the subtle energy channels that weave through the body. When our fascia is tight or dehydrated, the flow of prana (life force) can feel dulled or blocked.
This is where Yin Yoga becomes medicine. In the longer held poses, we’re listening and feeling, and oftentimes rubbing against resistance to stillness, impatience, mind chatter and all the other wonders that pop to the surface when we slow down in a world that encourages constant doing 🤨
I always imagine little sparks of energy lighting up each time some more of this magical tissue unpins, like a tiny pulse of life reawakening in the body.
Yin yoga is a simple, yet powerful practice, like a quiet conversation between body, breath, and energy. This is the kind of thing we explore in my Rest & Restore Sessions, details of the next gathering are below.
The first image is what I imagine goes on, the second is living fascia for those who may not be aware of what it looks like irl. So cool!
