Barnwood United FA Comets Programme.

What it is
Comets is a recreational, pan-disability football programme for children aged 5–11. It’s designed to be fun, flexible and inclusive, a safe place for disabled children to play, build confidence, make friends and “just be you.”

Who it’s for
Disabled boys and girls aged 5–11 with a wide range of impairments or additional needs. Comets brings different needs together in the same session (pan-disability).

No pressure, no trials — just play, smiles, confidence and new friends ⚽✨

Led by FA-trained coaches, designed for every ability.

What a fantastic session today! We played Tails, adventured through Treasure Island, and wrapped things up with a lively game of Football Skittles. So much fun all round!

It was fantastic to see so many players giving 1000% and supporting each other the Barnwood way — All Hearts, All Together, All In 🩵💜🦉
You showed exactly why we’re the largest Pan-Disability Football Club in Gloucestershire… the spirit, the passion, the inclusion… it’s unbeatable. 💪💙💜

Seeing parents step forward with their incredible neurodivergent insight, patience and understanding and channel it into becoming coaches… honestly, that’s what makes this club truly special 🙌💙💜

📣🦉 U12 Training – This Sunday! 🦉📣

Just a quick update for everyone:

This Sunday’s session will be for our U12s only ⚽💙
We can’t use the grass pitches and the astro isn’t big enough to safely run both age groups — so sadly there will be no U16 session this week. Thank you all for understanding 🙏💜

But… here’s the exciting bit! 🌟

As our pathway continues to grow, we’re looking to welcome new coaches across ALL age groups — from our tiny U5 Owlets (FA Comets) right through to adult football! 🦉⚽👣
We especially need more support in our U16 section 💪💜

And here’s the best part…
So many of our parents and supporters already bring one of the most valuable coaching skills you can have:
✨ an amazing understanding of neurodiversity and the many ways it can appear in day-to-day behaviour.
This insight is priceless and is exactly why some of our strongest, most compassionate coaches have come from within our own Barnwood family 💙💜

As our pathway grows, we need more coaches to enable us to provide appropriate sessions with proportionate support.

🗓️ Sessions are fortnightly on Sundays
📍 Alternating between training at Coopers Edge Sports Hub and matches in Birmingham

🦉 3 league teams competing in West Midlands Inclusion League
🦉 Accommodating children from age 5, with plans to grow into adult football
🦉 Close links with wider club Male and Female pathways,
🦉 Community club that provides diverse opportunities beyond football

Our Comets sessions are for children aged 5–11 and are open to all SEND children — no EHCP required.

🦉 Barnwood Utd U16 Owls – West Midlands Inclusion League Round-Up 💜❤️💙

A massive thank you to all our U16 Owls players, coaches, and parents for their superb effort and support today across both the Clarets and Blues teams.

❤️ Barnwood Utd Owls Clarets (Championship)
The Clarets showed real fight and character throughout the day — despite missing a few key players, they battled hard in both matches and can be incredibly proud of their performances.

They narrowly lost 1–0 to Kewford, then produced a fantastic display against Birmingham City, creating over a dozen chances but finding the Birmingham City keeper in unbeatable form!

Special mention to our “famous five” — especially Ethan, who bagged a brilliant hat-trick, and Kayden, who went above and beyond with his energy and commitment.

Coach John said it best:

“Yes, it was a tough day — but everyone showed real grit and determination. I’m proud of every single one of them.”

Outstanding effort, Clarets — proper footballing spirit on display today. 👏⚽️

💙 Barnwood Utd Owls Blues (League 1)
The Blues were equally impressive — with just six players (including three brand new to league football), they produced two superb performances full of teamwork and heart.

They opened with a brilliant 4–1 win, featuring two goals from Noah, an own goal he also created, and a cracking finish from Edward. In their second game, they battled hard in a narrow 2–1 defeat, showing great resilience to score late on after being two down.

Coach Jon Clark added:

“They were fantastic today — every single one of them. They’ll only get stronger as they gel together, and their team spirit really shone through.”

A brilliant start to the campaign, Blues — determination, effort, and unity in every kick. 💪🦉

💜 Huge credit to both U16 squads — Clarets and Blues — for representing Barnwood Utd with pride, passion, and togetherness. On and off the pitch, you’re all a credit to the club.

🦉 Barnwood Utd U12 Owls – Matchday Round-Up 💜🩵

A huge thank you to all our U12 Owls players and parents today! A tough day out there in the West Midlands Inclusion League, but plenty of effort, spirit, and smiles all round.

Head coach Alex summed it up perfectly:

“I’m super proud of our group today. They had some tough games that could have gone our way on another day, but the kids completely understood and were happy with how they performed. Me and Nathan couldn’t be happier — some amazing performances from everyone today. Well done, everyone!” 🙌🤩

The feedback from the sidelines says it all — Ruby was itching for that goal (it’s coming soon! 👀), while Michael and Henry worked tirelessly through midfield, covering every blade of grass.

As Alex added at the end — “They’ll become a force very soon… I can see it.” 💪
