They call it the city that never sleeps, but as a sleep coach, I took that as a personal challenge! 🍎💤

Having just got back from New York City, I can honestly say the energy is unmatched, and the impact on your circadian rhythm is real.

Between the adrenaline of the city, the constant noise, and the jet lag, my sleep wasn't "perfect", but I still woke up feeling great.

The secret? Mindset and leaning into the chaos while using a few pro-tools (hello, white noise and magnesium!).

For more details on my experience with sleep in NYC, read my new blog post. Link in bio ✈️✨

Stop trying so hard to sleep. 🛑🛌

If standard "sleep hygiene" worked for everyone, nobody would be struggling.
The truth is, for many of us, the more "rules" we follow, the more pressure we put on ourselves to sleep.

Most advice focuses on your room (external).
My coaching focuses on your brain (internal).
If your internal "Alarm System" is switched on because you're worried about how to sleep, no amount of lavender spray is going to override that survival instinct.

To get back to restorative rest, we have to address the Science of Letting Go.

The negative impact of sleep trackers is a hot topic in the news today, but something I have been working with clients with for a long time!

Relying on technology to tell us how we feel and how 'successful' our nights sleep was, is an easy way to fall into the trap of disconnect and hyper focus on this illusion of 'the perfect sleep'!

As part of my restorative sleep program I support people to reconnect with their own natural ability to sleep and trust themselves to sleep and be the judge of their own body and mind.

We work on ways to lower anxiety and understand why sleep naturally changes over time and will be impacted by life events, and how to manage that when it does, without it spiralling into a belief that you "can't" sleep!

Stop trying so hard to sleep. 🛑🛌

If you’ve tried the blackout curtains, the warm bath, and the "no screens after 8 PM" rule, but you’re still staring at the ceiling 2 hours after going to bed or waking at 3:00 AM......then this is the webinar for you.

Sleep isn’t a task you can "win" at. In fact, the harder you fight for it, the further it retreats. It’s time to drop the tug-of-war rope.

This World Sleep Day 💤, join me for a 1-hour Restorative Sleep Workshop based on the principles of ACT-I (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy for Insomnia).
We aren’t going to talk about sleep hygiene. We’re going to talk about changing your relationship with wakefulness and sleep.

What’s included for £29:

✅ 1-Hour Live Interactive Session
✅ The "Sleep Tug-of-War" Cheat Sheet
✅ Exclusive Guided "Anchor" Meditation
✅ Lifetime access to the recording

Did you know you spend 1/3 of your life asleep? Let's make it count. 🌙

Today marks the start of Sleep Awareness Week (8–14 March), but we aren’t here to talk about "trying harder" to sleep. We’re here to talk about the science of letting go.

In the world of health, we often focus on what we do, what we eat and how we move. But the foundation of it all is how we rest. Without restorative sleep, the other pillars crumble.

The 3 Pillars of Health:
✅ Nutrition
✅ Exercise
✅ Sleep: The biological "reset" button that makes the first two possible.

If you’ve been caught in the "Paradox of Effort"; where the more you want sleep, the further it runs away, you’re in the right place this week.

We’re moving beyond basic sleep hygiene and diving into the physiology of sleep and the ACT-I (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Insomnia) principles that actually work.
It’s time to stop fighting your biology and start understanding it.

📊 Reality Check:

On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being "zombie mode" and 10 being "fully restored"), how would you rate your sleep quality over the last 7 days?
Drop your number in the comments below. 👇

Is the quest for the "perfect sleep" actually keeping you awake?

I loved chatting with Teddy Draper on the Sport & Life podcast about my work as The Restorative Sleep Coach. We moved past the 'hacks' and focused on what actually matters:
reconnecting with your natural ability to rest and letting go of the struggle for control.

Sleep is a foundation block for your health, but it shouldn't bea source of anxiety. My sleep programs focus on:
>Root cause resolution
>Releasing the 'control' trap
>Judgement free support

Would you like to take part in the 21-Day Kindfulness Experiment?

It starts on Wednesday, November 13th, which also happens to be World Kindness Day. It’s completely free.

The plan is that I’ll be sending out a short ‘kindfulness’ meditation practice each day, plus a short video (2/3 minutes) encouraging some thinking or reflection on kindness.

And it’s an ‘experiment’ because we’ll be measuring happiness, connection, and wellbeing, before and after the 21 days.

The aim is to see if a 21-day focus on kindness, even a wee bit, can make people feel happier, more connected, and improve overall wellbeing.

What is kindfulness? It’s two things:

Kindfulness as a meditation practice is any mindfulness-based practice where at least part of the focus is in the direction of compassion or kindness.

Kindfulness in life is simply to be mindfully kind in how you interact with people.

I love this concept from particularly as we are in
thepsychologymum - How we feel and the emotions we experience are a central part of our mental health.
Conversely how we respond to emotions is critical for our health, mental and physical. While they can perplexing, stubborn, frustrating, annoying, frightening and downright depressing at times, emotions are a fundamental and necessary part of brain functioning.
In fact, they are central to being human.
Unfortunately societal beliefs often tells us we shouldn’t have emotions or some emotions are bad.
Telling your brain it shouldn’t have emotions is like telling your heart not to beat or your lungs not to breathe, and it doesn’t make your brain very happy.
Emotions don’t always feel nice and can make us want to run away from them. And like any avoidance, short term this seems to work, we feel relieved. But inside your brain is feeling pretty annoyed at trying to hold it all in.
How you respond to your emotions is important.
Research shows suppressing, berating and shaming emotions doesn’t help us deal with them at all and just creates more stress and make emotions feel even more difficult.
Naming, validating, expressing and recognising emotions seems to help us process them and help us become friends with them, rather than them having power over us. It seems to soothe those emotions and instead of adding a layer of more stress and difficult feelings, helps us deal with the ones we have.
