Blossom Fields' residents greatly enjoyed taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch last month so much so that bird watching has become a regular part of the activities programme. Residents are intrigued by the feathered friends and are becoming real experts at the variety of birds that visit Blossom Fields.

In winter birds need 50% more energy as many of their natural food sources are not available such as berries so the residents will be continuing to regularly feed the birds and keeping an eye out for new visitors as word gets out! 🐦‍⬛🐦🥜

It's been a fabulous February of live singers at Blossom Fields. From regular singers Andy Tee and Damien to a welcome return for singer Rebecca.

Residents greatly enjoyed Rebecca's performance which was full of energy and well-known songs to dance and move along to.

It is always wonderful to see residents enjoying live entertainment.

Blossom Fields have had a great time celebrating Chinese New Year. Residents enjoyed a traditional Chinese lunch of sweet and sour with egg fried rice. A Chinese tree was created and there was then an arts session with residents writing their name in Chinese and then decorating their name in beautiful colours. Everyone did really well at grasping the intricate writing.

There was great fun reading the fortune cookies! It is the year of the fire horse which only comes round every 60 years, so the last year was 1966. Wishing everyone a prosperous and joyful Chinese New Year; may the Year of the Horse bring you the promised energy, momentum, success, and freedom!

Food and food preparation is one element of Allegra Care's Household Model and the activities teams across the homes incorporate cooking in the weekly programme as always so popular. The latest culinary delight at Olive Tree House was residents creating their own pizzas. There was a variety of toppings to choose from and no one stinted on the cheese!

Nutrition and hydration becomes even more important as we age, maintaining physical strength and cognitive function reduces the risk of falls and nutrition can play a key part in reducing the risk of infections. Making food and drink tasty and enjoyable is also key and the residents certainly enjoyed their pizzas!

The role of an Activities Coordinator is one that needs a real breadth of skills and imagination is key. Blossom Fields' Activities Coordinator Rose created a new game for residents to enjoy "Ping Pong Put" and it was greatly enjoyed by all! It will definately be played again as it was perfect for everyone to join in and held residents' interest as they watched to see where the ball landed each time.

Arts and Crafts activities are always very popular at Fordingbridge Care Home, and this week was no exception. Residents thoroughly enjoyed a creative session with May Summers, who kindly gave up some of her time to lead the activity.

There was a wonderful atmosphere in the room as everyone got involved, and it was lovely to see just how creative the residents can be—often with little or no help at all. Their imagination and artistic flair were truly on display, making it a fantastic session for everyone involved. 🎨✨

Olive Tree House and Rose Garden have been celebrating Chinese New Year. Today was the start of the Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse and the neighbouring Chinese shop Konbini - Patchway donated gifts for all the residents. Thank you so much to the team at Konbini for such kindness, the residents loved reading their fortune.

Alive Activities support the home's activities with fortnightly tai-chi classes with Eeva as well as other visits that include music and movement. Last week Louisa bought some razzle dazzle with music and top hats! The variety Alive Activities offer is great for keeping residents interested and incorporating movement is so important for overall well-being.

Blossom Fields' residents had a flipping good time this Shrove Tuesday!

What a fun afternoon for residents tossing the pancakes in the air, there was certainly some concentration as well to ensure the pancakes landed back in the pan. Activities Coordinator Rose even dressed for the occasion! A big thank you to Head Chef Jose for making the copious supply of pancakes which were so enjoyed by all with a variety of toppings - how do you eat yours?

The regular pamper sessions at Blossom Fields are absolutely loved by the residents. For the ladies they enjoy selecting the nail polish colours and looking glam, for the gents it is important to be well-groomed and for all the hand massages are so relaxing. For resident Lilly it went one step further with not only a hand massage but a very relaxing Indian Head Massage, she really loved this treat and being looked after so wonderfully by the team! 💅🥰
