Last night we officially celebrated the launch of our new Manchester Clinic and what a fantastic evening it was 🥂 🐝

It was brilliant to welcome patients, partners, clinicians and friends of Proactive to mark this exciting new chapter.

A special mention to Sioned Wakefield, our Manchester Clinic Manager, who will be leading the clinic day-to-day. Her experience, commitment to patient care and passion for rehabilitation make her the perfect person to head up this new location.

Expanding into Manchester means we can now support even more individuals across the North West with the same personalised, high-quality prosthetic and orthotic care we’re known for.

The evening was about more than just opening doors, it was about community, collaboration and continuing our mission to deliver truly patient-centred rehabilitation.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, and to the team who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the launch such a success.

We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and even more excited about what’s ahead 💙

Introducing our new Cambridge Clinic Orthotist - Alex Chapman

Since graduating from the University of Salford in 2014, Alex has worked in Cambridge as an Orthotist, specialising in neurorehabilitation and scoliosis management. Before joining Proactive, she served as Clinic Manager for several large prosthetic and orthotic services across the East of England and the Midlands.

Alex is committed to delivering evidence-based care, combining fundamental principles of biomechanics with advanced technologies to optimise patient outcomes. She is enthusiastic about improving the quality of life for her patients, which is evident in her appointments through her positivity and empathetic nature. Her clinical expertise includes comprehensive gait analysis, spinal orthotic intervention, and the integration of digital workflows such as 3D scanning and additive manufacturing. She has a particular interest in complex neurological presentations and multidisciplinary rehabilitation planning.

Outside of work, Alex plays competitive netball and enjoys exploring the countryside with her Labrador, Bruno.

Our team has recently delivered a bespoke 3D-printed elbow and wrist orthosis, designed to provide targeted support while maintaining functional movement where it matters most.

The wrist section incorporates a precision hinge, allowing controlled flexion and extension while preventing unwanted abduction and adduction. At the elbow, a total-contact, full-shell design holds the joint in fixed flexion - offering protection and stability following fusion, while also helping to manage neuropathic pain.

To support independence and ease of use, the brace features a removable front shell with a book-opening mechanism. Integrated 3D locators guide accurate alignment, allowing the patient to position their arm and secure the device confidently and independently.

⭐ This is a great example of how advanced digital design and patient-centred thinking can combine to create practical, life-enhancing solutions.

Yesterday, the team at Proactive Manchester were delighted to host an Exchange Chambers event - and what a day it was!

We welcomed a room full of engaged professionals for a series of insightful presentations, including:

🔹 Kieran sharing The Proactive Lived Experience

The afternoon continued with interactive breakout sessions exploring:

▪️ Rehab Reimagined: More Than Gait with Jack Cawood

We were pleased to welcome a mix of leading claimant law firms and barristers, giving us the opportunity to showcase Proactive’s clinical services, specialist facilities, and truly multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation and long-term patient care.

Most importantly, it was fantastic to bring together such a knowledgeable, engaged group - sparking meaningful discussion around innovation, collaboration, and improving outcomes for patients.

On December 31st, our very own Alan McDougall went into the Godalming clinic to help Rakesh whose prosthesis had unfortunately broken, rendering him unable to walk.

He was visiting family in London but, lives in the Netherlands and is not a Proactive patient. Rakesh is a through-hip amputee and a strap had snapped and the alignment of the prosthesis had shifted.

He called around to all the different private and NHS clinics with no luck, but when he called Proactive, he got our emergency contact voicemail with Alan's mobile number.

After a few WhatsApp messages and pictures, he popped into clinic on the 31st for a repair to allow him to continue his family holiday with mobility.

Alan had him all fixed and on his way within an hour or so.

Huge congratulations to Charlie Elevated Pilates and the Paddle UK team on winning the National Lottery Innovation Award 2026 for their brilliant work with on the paracanoe programme.

Proactive have had the pleasure of collaborating with them throughout the past season and are excited for the projects already taking shape as we move into the next cycle.
