On December 31st, our very own Alan McDougall went into the Godalming clinic to help Rakesh whose prosthesis had unfortunately broken, rendering him unable to walk.

He was visiting family in London but, lives in the Netherlands and is not a Proactive patient. Rakesh is a through-hip amputee and a strap had snapped and the alignment of the prosthesis had shifted.

He called around to all the different private and NHS clinics with no luck, but when he called Proactive, he got our emergency contact voicemail with Alan's mobile number.

After a few WhatsApp messages and pictures, he popped into clinic on the 31st for a repair to allow him to continue his family holiday with mobility.

Alan had him all fixed and on his way within an hour or so.

The clinic features a fully equipped on-site workshop, allowing for same-day adjustments, socket checks, and repairs - ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of comfort and fit from day one.

Out with the old and in with the new! 🦿🦿

It was great to see our long-standing patient, Mark Ormrod, to get him fitted with some new Ottobock Genium X4 knees.

For 17 years, Mark has used microprocessor-controlled knees and is one of the best bilateral above-knee users.

It's great to see him on the latest technology. It's always an honor to get to treat our veterans.

Exciting News from Proactive!

We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our new Manchester clinic and from day one, we’re partnering with the Connect Physio team to ensure our patients have access to amputee specialist physiotherapists for both clinic-based and community rehabilitation.

What does this mean for our patients?
✅ Clinic-based rehab will take place in Proactive’s fully equipped gym, providing a safe and controlled environment for structured therapy sessions.
✅ We can also offer intensive rehab bursts of 3–5 days, ideal for accelerating progress and focusing on specific goals.
✅ Community-based rehab will involve working with patients in real-world settings, helping them regain confidence and independence in everyday activities.

The Connect team is led by Sarah Bradbury, who brings 25 years of experience across NHS rehabilitation, private rehab, and expert witness report writing.

Together, in partnership with our prosthetic and orthotic team, we’re committed to delivering the best possible outcomes in prosthetics and orthotics across the North West.
