A lovely moment at Surrey Heights Specialist Dementia Centre yesterday.

Dr Ibraham Manto and Dr Sami visited with flowers, chocolates and cards for our residents and team - a simple but genuinely appreciated gesture.

As part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, they are passionate about connecting with and supporting the local community. Having previously cared for one of our residents at Farnham Road Hospital, it was great to see that connection continue.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our home and residents!

Yesterday, our homes across CHD Living celebrated St George’s Day 🇬🇧

At Surrey Heights Dementia Care Centre, residents made the most of the sunshine with their first lunch out on the newly opened terrace, followed by a fantastic performance from MC David McEwan.

Abbey Chase spent time baking a Victoria sponge together (and eating it!), while Brownscombe Care Residency marked the day in the garden with a singer, strawberries and cream, and a glass of wine for some.

At St Catherine’s, there was plenty going on with personalised passports, face painting, afternoon tea, and cake decorating. And Whitegates Care Centre kept things lively with a quiz and, of course, cake.

A lovely day enjoyed by all.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us today at Surrey Heights Specialist Dementia Care Centre for our Networking Brunch.

It was fantastic to see so many professionals and members of the local community come together to connect, share ideas, and strengthen support for people living with young-onset dementia. A special thank you to Amy from Younger People with Dementia (YPWD) for delivering such an insightful and engaging talk.

We were also lucky to have the sunshine with us, making it a perfect setting to showcase our specialist dementia care environment here at Surrey Heights. And of course, the Brownscombe ducklings made an appearance!

We look forward to continuing these important conversations and supporting those living with dementia through both our services and our partnership with YPWD, Surrey Heights’ charity of choice.

Say hello to our newest little residents 🐥

We’ve had some very special arrivals at Brownscombe Care Residency - a group of ducklings have hatched right here at the home!

They’ve already been busy swimming and meeting visitors from our other homes, bringing lots of smiles and “awws” from everyone 💛

We’ve got some news we’re genuinely proud of.

Our Abbey Chase Nursing Home has received a perfect 10 out of 10 review score on carehome.co.uk.

Behind that score are the moments that matter most. The reassurance a family feels when they walk in. The steady, kind support that helps someone settle after a difficult hospital stay. The dignity in the way care is given. The warmth that makes a place feel like home, not a service.

Abbey Chase supports residential, nursing, respite and palliative care, and also plays an important role in helping people move safely from hospital back towards home through step down care, providing time for recovery, assessment and reablement when it’s needed most.

To everyone who has taken the time to leave a review, thank you. Your words mean the world.

And to Maria, Gino and every Abbey Chase team member, this is your achievement. You make the difference, every single day.

Complex care is never one size fits all because no two people’s needs, conditions, or lives are the same.

At CHD Living, we support individuals living with a wide range of highly specialised neurological, respiratory, and physical health conditions. This includes people recovering from stroke or brain injury, those living with spinal cord injuries, progressive neurological diagnoses such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s or MND, and individuals requiring tracheostomy or ventilator support.

What matters most is not just the condition, but the person behind it. Their routines, goals, independence, and quality of life shape every care plan we deliver.

With the right clinical oversight and multidisciplinary expertise, complex care can be delivered safely and effectively in the comfort of home, often providing greater stability, familiarity, and long term wellbeing.

If you are supporting someone with complex needs, or would like to understand what options are available, our Complex Care Team is here to help.

A little Easter round-up 💛

The past few days have been filled with some really lovely moments across CHD Living - shared meals, time outside in the garden, music, reflection, and of course a few Easter treats along the way.

We hope you’ve had a weekend full of moments that mean something to you. Happy Easter from all of us at CHD Living.

We’re excited to invite you to our next monthly dementia-friendly community café at Godalming United Church on Tuesday 7th April, 11am–12:30pm. Whether you’re living with dementia or supporting someone who is, come along with friends, family, or carers to enjoy tea, coffee, handmade cakes, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Our first café in March was a wonderful start, with support from Reverend Adam and local mayor Cllr Bob Crooks MBE, and we can’t wait to see even more of our Godalming friends and neighbours next week.

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, relax, and be part of our growing community!

We’re proud to share that Brownscombe Care Residences has been named in the Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Guide 2026 for the fifth consecutive year.

Set within three acres of beautiful landscaped gardens, Brownscombe Care Residences combines heritage charm with modern comfort across Brownscombe House and Brownscombe Lodge, supporting up to 55 residents with residential, nursing and palliative care.

But what matters most is not just the setting. It’s the feeling inside. A place where people are known, respected and supported with real dignity, every day.

A huge thank you to our incredible team members, and to every resident and family who places their trust in us.

Creating Happiness Daily, always.

Exciting news! Shaleeza Hasham, Commercial Director at CHD Living and Founder & CEO of Adopt A Grandparent, has been shortlisted for Businesswoman of the Year at the Dynamic Awards 2026, one of the South East’s most recognised celebrations of female achievement in business.

Shaleeza is a second generation leader who has helped drive CHD Living forward with a clear, values led approach, combining commercial strength with a relentless focus on quality, dignity and outcomes for the people we support. From shaping major developments that expand care in the community, to championing innovation that improves safety and wellbeing, she leads with purpose and high standards. This shortlist is a brilliant recognition of the impact Shaleeza has made, and the kind of leadership social care needs more of.

Shaleeza is also the Founder & CEO of Adopt a Grandparent, which she launched in 2019 to tackle loneliness in care homes through meaningful, safeguarded intergenerational friendships. Shaleeza’s efforts highlight the belief that kindness can be organised, scaled, and protected, and that social impact deserves the same ambition as any business goal.

Congratulations, Shaleeza, and thank you to every resident, care home, volunteer, supporter, and colleague who has helped build these achievements.

We wish all the finalists the very best of luck at the award ceremony this week!

Today is both Red Nose Day and International Day of Happiness - a perfect reminder that happiness isn’t something you stumble into. It’s something people choose to create.

Not the loud, once-in-a-while kind. The everyday kind.

It’s being greeted by name, like you matter.
It’s the cup of tea made properly, without you needing to explain yourself.
It’s someone spotting the wobble in your mood and quietly pulling up a chair.
It’s laughter echoing down the corridor, sometimes unexpected, but always welcome.
It’s a favourite song doing what medicine sometimes can’t, bringing someone back to themselves.
It’s the dignity of being listened to, not rushed.
It’s progress measured in inches, and treated like it counts, because it does.

Today, we’re celebrating both the power of happiness and the joy of making a difference. Across CHD Living, our teams and residents are embracing Red Nose Day with smiles, laughter and moments of fun - and will be tuning in together for tonight’s show, sharing in the spirit of something bigger.

At CHD Living, we call it Creating Happiness Daily because happiness in care is never accidental. It’s a thousand small decisions made with care, attention and kindness, again and again, across our care homes, care at home, rehabilitation and complex care services.

A special mention to Brownscombe and Abbey Chase Care Home, where today’s photos capture exactly what this day is all about.

So today, if you’re looking for happiness, don’t look for perfection. Look for the moments made gently, on purpose. And if you can, be one of those moments for someone else ❤️

Recovery rarely follows a straight line. It is often uncertain, emotional, and deeply personal. Behind every rehabilitation journey is a family navigating change, hope, and the need for the right support at the right time.

We are continually reminded why specialist rehabilitation matters through the experiences shared by those closest to the people we support.

“Mum came to Bagshot Park for two weeks of rehabilitation following major emergency surgery. The team were able to admit her at very short notice and provided an excellent service to her, my father and I. The facility is excellent, with modern, clean rooms and onsite physiotherapy. The whole team were incredibly supportive and answered every question I had during her stay. A huge thank you to all the team.”

Stories like this reflect what thoughtful, responsive rehabilitation can mean during critical moments of recovery.

Equally powerful are the longer term outcomes families witness over time.

“I can speak very highly of the service and quality of care offered at Kingston Rehabilitation Centre. My mother suffered a serious stroke and is now restricted to a wheelchair, but the physiotherapy team saw that as no barrier. They supported her with standing exercises, exceeding what we thought possible. Our thanks to the entire rehab team at Kingston. I can also recommend the high quality speech and language therapy offered by the centre.”

Rehabilitation is never just about clinical input. It is about restoring confidence, rebuilding independence, and supporting people to achieve outcomes that genuinely improve quality of life.
