Recently, the residents of Robertson Nursing Home came together in the dining room for some wonderful musical entertainment. The residents really enjoyed the beautiful piano playing by a lovely local entertainer, who played a variety of songs, including many that were familiar to our residents. 🎶 🎹

We try to arrange a variety of musical entertainment, featuring different styles and genres, so there is something to appeal to our residents’ varied tastes. Music is such a powerful tool for mental wellbeing and something that brings a lot of joy to our residents.

In addition to our various organised group activities that encourage socialising, we also ensure we make time for some quiet one-on-one activities with the residents.

Spending some dedicated time with a resident, playing a game or supporting them with a favourite hobby is really beneficial for our residents. It gives staff the opportunity to build relationships with the resident and encourages residents to have a chat about anything on their mind. Our staff and resident enjoyed playing some board games and having a good chat in the peaceful, comfortable surroundings of the resident’s bedroom.

These one-to-one sessions are incredibly important and something we prioritise at the home.

We have been enjoying some autumnal arts and crafts activities recently at Robertson Nursing Home. Our residents carved their own pumpkins for Halloween, which looked suitably spooky displayed around the home for our Halloween activities. 🎃 This week, the residents have been inspired by the fireworks and Bonfire Night fun to create their own bonfire collages. 🎆

It's the perfect time of year to relax and get creative with some arts and crafts. Our residents often enjoy getting together for a chat while they work on their artistic creations.

Every single member of the Robertson Nursing Home team plays an important part in keeping the home running smoothly and ensuring our residents are happy and well cared for.

We wanted to show our appreciation to Usha and Begkala, members of our domestic team, for everything they do to keep the home so clean and tidy. These two team members go above and beyond in their roles and are dedicated to making sure our residents have a pleasant environment to live in. Usha also provides support to our kitchen team and helps with tea trolley runs for the residents. Both are valued members of the Robertson family and we appreciate their work.

Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to attend the Care Roadshow South by Care Roadshows , with colleagues from our fellow Surrey-based Beritaz Care homes.

We really enjoyed having a look around the event and getting to chat to other people within the care industry. It was fantastic to see the latest innovations in the care sector, as well as new technologies and tools to improve care. We left the event feeling so inspired and have some really interesting new ideas to explore. We are always excited to find new ways to enhance our care services and embrace new ideas.

It’s just one month until the Surrey Care Awards and we are looking forward to spending an evening celebrating with the other wonderful care providers based in Surrey.

We are very proud to be named as a finalist in the ‘Nursing Home of the Year’ category at this year’s awards, following our success in winning the ‘Team of the Year’ category at the 2024 awards.

We are counting down the days until the awards, and win or lose, it is sure to be a fantastic evening and a great opportunity to celebrate as a team. Thank you to the Surrey Care Association for recognising our team and the hard work we put in to provide our residents with quality care. Keep your fingers crossed for us at the awards.

This week is National Baking Week in the UK, and our residents are ready to put on their aprons and have fun while baking some delicious treats. 🍰🥄👩🏻‍🍳

Baking is a wonderful pastime that encourages creativity, can help us to relax and provides a sense of accomplishment. For the residents in our homes, baking is a popular activity that benefits their mental and physical wellbeing. Many of our residents are talented bakers and having the opportunity to continue this favourite hobby within our homes brings them so much happiness.

Recently, we took some of our residents on an autumnal adventure to explore the beautiful Broadwater Lake. Though the weather may be a bit colder now, there’s still so much joy to be found in spending time outdoors. We are lucky to have some wonderful sights in our local area that we can enjoy with our residents.

The residents had a lovely time taking a gentle stroll around the lake, seeing the wildlife and the beautiful autumnal colours of the leaves falling from the trees. We also took the opportunity to enjoy some refreshments at the outdoor café, surrounded by the wonderful scenery. It was a lovely day and an outing that was enjoyed by all.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and in honour of this campaign, we wanted to share with you some of the ways we prioritise mental health and wellbeing within our homes. From building trust and encouraging communication, to supporting activities and pastimes that bring joy to our residents, mental health support is an important part of the care we provide in our homes. As well as our residents, we are also taking steps to ensure relatives, staff, and members of our wider community are supported to prioritise their mental health.

Find out how we are tackling the topic of mental health within our homes in our latest post: https://beritazcare.co.uk/news/article/how-we-support-mental-health-and-emotional-wellbeing

We encourage everyone to take some time today to check in on their own mental health and have a conversation with people in your life about mental wellbeing.

Happy Grandparents’ Day to all the wonderful grandparents in our community!

Today is the perfect day to celebrate the joy that grandparents bring into our lives. It is heartwarming to see how much happiness our residents get from spending time with their loved ones and, in particular, the special relationships they have with their grandchildren. To all the amazing grandparents and their families in the Beritaz Care community, we wish you a very happy Grandparents’ Day! 💕
