Bridgewater Day Care Bridgewater Day Care is a home away from home, local community centre for adults. We offer a 2 course cooked lunch & snacks and drinks throughout the day .

We provide daily activities, socialisation, nutritious meals, and personal care, all from the comfort of the day centre 💙

Visit us today! Bridgewater Day Care Centre is open Monday-Friday 10am -4pm and is a home away from home for older people and those living with a form of Dementia in Golborne, Wigan. We offer a friendly, fun, community atmosphere for our Clients with support from our well-trained team and partner agencies. Specialising in support for the elderly and those living with a form of memory loss, the service allows older people to create new friendships, engage in hobbies and activities both past and new, maintain mental stimulation and much more! Giving family carers respite and the peace of mind that their loved ones are in excellent hands.

Did you know that doll therapy is a recognised way to support people living with dementia? 🧸
Caring for a doll or soft toy can give clients a renewed sense of purpose, reduce anxiety, improve mood, and help them connect with the world around them. Some see the doll as a soft toy to cuddle, others as a baby to care for — it’s led entirely by the client. 💙

“Looking after a baby doll has a significant calming effect on clients, giving them a sense of worth and purpose.” ✨

Not everyone interacts with a doll, and that’s okay — we always respect individual preferences and discuss suitability with families.

Doll therapy is just one of the many ways our experienced team supports clients living with dementia, alongside activities, reminiscence, social events, and personalised care.

Yesterday we got creative using VEGETABLES 🤣 — and what a fantastic session it was!

Using broccoli and carrots, everyone enjoyed making beautiful tree artwork by printing and painting with the vegetables. It was wonderful to see so many smiles, laughter, and creative designs coming to life 🌳✨

Activities like this are not only fun, but they also support hand-eye coordination, creativity, sensory stimulation, and social interaction. Most importantly, everyone had a really good time!

Well done to all our talented artists today — your masterpieces are amazing! 👏💚

Our centre has been full of smiles, laughter, and a whole lot of love this month! 💕

We’ve been enjoying some lovely time together – sharing treats, getting creative, and capturing special moments with our wonderful “LOVE” balloons. It’s always so heartwarming to see friendships flourish and our clients enjoying meaningful activities in a safe, supportive environment.

Days like these remind us how important connection, companionship, and a little bit of fun truly are. 💖

More Than A Day

When you drop your loved one off,
it may look like company, activities, and care. 🌷
And it is.

But it’s also steady hands,
gentle reminders,
drinks offered again and again —
because hydration is forgotten,
but dignity never should be. 💧🤍

It’s buttoning coats,
protecting privacy,
answering the same question
with the same calm voice.

It’s noticing small changes. 👀
Reassuring worried hearts.
Singing songs. 🎶
Dancing. Crafting. Laughing. 🎨

It’s strength and softness.
Skill and patience.

Your loved one is never “just” here for the day.
They are someone’s whole world. 🌍

And while they’re with us,

🥞✨ Flipping Fantastic Fun at the Day Centre! ✨🥞

What a batter-filled day we’ve had! 😄 Today we rolled up our sleeves and got busy making delicious pancakes — and let’s just say… there were some very impressive flipping skills on display! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

From mixing and pouring to picking the yummiest toppings (and sneaking a little taste along the way 😉), everyone had a part to play. The room was full of laughter, teamwork, and the sweet smell of pancakes!
