Keep the main thing the main thing.

• "Should I be taking pre-workout?"

• "Should I eat at certain times?"

• "What if I can't eat during this time of the day?"

• "What should my macros be?"

• "Should I adjust my carb and fat percentages?"

All of these are perfectly valid questions. And ones that should and can be answered.

But many of these questions are being asked too soon. They create a distraction from the main thing.

They complicate and distract you from doing the basics first.

Taking pre-workout does not matter if you aren't consistently drinking enough water.

The time of day you eat is insignificant if you are sleeping 5 hours a night regularly.

Your carb and fat percentages don't need adjusted if you're not even eating enough food to support what you are trying to do.

The boring and the simple advice that works

• is sustainable

• and more often than not, is the thing you need to be doing.

The foundation of any pyramid needs to be the strongest or else the stuff at the top won't matter and will fall apart.

The foundation of your nutrition pyramid

Get enough sleep & water (6-8 hours and 2-4L)

Get enough calories in to support weight loss or muscle gain

Once you are doing that consistently then let's talk about what's next.

If that's you reach out. Comment below or send me a DM.

Have you ever heard of the 80/20 approach?

So many people get caught up in either being all in, or completely all out when it comes to their nutrition.

✅ They are either eating 100% on point, sticking to their plan exactly…

❌ Or they are on the other end of the spectrum, eating whatever they want, with no plan whatsoever.

This type of yo-yo dieting is a recipe for disaster.

If you throw in the towel every time you stray from the rigid plan you’ve set for yourself…

You will CONSTANTLY spin your wheels.

💯 Life is going to happen.

You will have trips, get-togethers, holidays, etc that are going to throw a wrench in your plans, especially if you have no flexibility built in.

Let me teach you a different approach, one that can allow a little bit of wiggle-room…

This graphic is a representation of what your week could look like if you give yourself that small bit of flexibility.

The 80/20 approach essentially says that if you are eating healthy, nutrient-dense foods for 80% of the time, then it's totally fine to allow the other 20% of your diet to be made up of not so healthy foods (like pizza, ice cream, donuts, etc) that you enjoy eating.

I'm a fan of this approach because it give you the opportunity to enjoy foods & life situations in moderation, while still sticking to your overall diet. For many, this will help make your approach to nutrition more sustainable, therefore helping you see success in the long-term.

Remember, hitting 80% each week is going to be so much more beneficial to your goals than bouncing back and forth and hitting just 50%.

Tag & share this with someone that would benefit from hearing about this!
