I stood today beside your stone,
Where silence speaks and grass has grown.
The earth was still, but for an autumn breeze and fluttering leaves.
A whisper wrapped around my heart. It wrapped around me like your shawl, the one that remains treasured in my drawer. Holding me close, as did your hands, as did your love.
I traced the letters carved in grace, and felt your smile in that place. Not in the stone, but in the breeze, the rustling leaves, the swaying trees. The sky that's grey, yet offers up a glimpse of light, of hope and life.
I turned away, my steps unsure, but felt your strength and love remain. So now I walk, not quite alone, I know you're here, in my heart and in our home. And when I pause, I hear again, the breeze and earth still know your name.
