Our next nomination is for Favour Chikaire Okoroafor, Barts Health NHS Trust.

"Favour inspires me working on the unit and with her words, she's an incredible leader within critical care because she cares for those she leads.

She inspires me to do better. I felt so honoured when she once said thank you for opening her eyes to the BACCN and conference. But to me she opened my eyes by showing me what could be achieved."

The festive season is all about kindness, gratitude and connection. We are embracing this through our BACCN Acts of Kindness campaign.

Our next nomination is for Rebecca Harris, Senior Sister in ICU at Medway Hospital.

"We recently lost a member of staff who sadly passed away ( a death in service) following a long battle with cancer. The staff member was nursed within our own department including the duration of palliation and into end of life care till her passing on the 1st Nov.

Rebecca Harris, nursed her colleague (& friend) throughout the last few days and went out of her way to ensure the requests from the patient and family were met; with the upmost care and attention to detail.

Her kindness and generosity of spirit was shared amongst all those involved, including her colleagues working in the department at the time. Rebecca is always a compassionate and thoughtful team leader; and during this time she demonstrated the true definition of selfless acts to ensure others were made comfortable, supported and listened to. Our next nomination is for Anne-Marie Carter, Outreach Practitioner at Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley.

"Since I joined the team six months ago, she has demonstrated kindness over and above the call of duty, on very many occasions.

From encouraging and supporting me; to going the extra mile for a patient and relatives; to supporting our ward-based colleagues, Anne is recognised by not just me but also other members of the Medical Emergency team, as being kindness personified.

She always has the patients' best interests at heart."

The festive season is all about kindness, gratitude and connection. We are embracing this through our BACCN Acts of Kindness campaign.

Our second nomination is for Shona MacPhail from the Western Isles Hospital ANP

"Shona is amazing.

She is a fantastic nurse. An amazing mum to her 2 children Lachie and Iona (who she cared for with an unstinting smile through Iona's cancer journey) and a phenomenal colleague, patient advocate and practitioner. In amongst her Clinical support nurse role, she finds time to work shifts in our HDU where she delivers excellent care with a huge smile. She goes absolutely out of her way to help everyone - colleagues, patients and relatives - and delivers home reared chickens eggs around the hospital for everyone to enjoy.

Shona is literally unflappable! A complete ray of sunshine and an amazing colleague"

The festive season is all about kindness, gratitude and connection. We are embracing this through our BACCN Acts of Kindness campaign.

Our first nomination is for Laura Harman, Band 7 Team Leader at Midland Metropolitan Critical Care Unit.

โ€œLaura is very highly spoken of throughout our entire Critical Care team for being kind, selfless, and an all-round spectacular person. No question is too silly and no task is too big.

Laura will regularly check in on staff who are experiencing difficulties in life, or at work. She will catch up with us on her days off, and goes above and beyond to make sure weโ€™re well, and if thereโ€™s anything she can do to make our lives just a little bit better.

Laura makes us feel seen and heard, sheโ€™ll listen to our rants, and offer a friendly hug if she can see itโ€™s needed.

I donโ€™t think Laura realises just how amazing she is, itโ€™s clearly just in her nature. But it would be lovely for her to know how much she is appreciated by us all on Critical Care.
Sometimes there doesnโ€™t need to be one huge act of kindness, itโ€™s the little moments of care that matter the mostโ€
