📣 Reminder! 📣

The abstract submission deadline is in just under two weeks! Submit your paper by 31st March and be part of the conference programme.

If you’re passionate about safe moving and handling, there’s no better platform to showcase your ideas than the NBE Annual Conference. Here are five reasons to submit your abstract this year:

👉 Shape the Future of Safe Moving & Handling
The conference explores emerging research, new technologies, and forward‑thinking approaches to support effective, dignified care. Your submission helps influence the direction of the national conversation.

👉 Showcase Your Expertise Nationally
This event attracts practitioners, educators, managers, innovators, and policy influencers across the sector—an ideal audience to highlight your work, research, or case studies.

👉 Grow Your Professional Profile (Even If You’re New to Presenting!)
Whether through a workshop or a poster, the conference offers supportive opportunities to share your insights. Posters are especially great for first‑time presenters who want to showcase their work without presenting live.

👉 Enrich a Diverse, High‑Impact Programme
NBE welcomes submissions across acute, community, bariatric, paediatric, and general practice. Your abstract contributes to a rich and varied programme that reflects real‑world practice.

👉 Support Sector‑Wide Knowledge Sharing
The conference is built on hands‑on learning, collaboration, and best‑practice exchange. Your contribution strengthens collective learning across health and social care.

The NBE safer moving and handling in the perioperative environment publication focuses on practical solutions to the unique challenges related to the provision of patient care and completion of procedure-related tasks in a highly technical environment.

Staff groups working in this environment include:
▶️Operating department practitioners
▶️Nursing staff
▶️Surgeons and
▶️Anaesthetists
to name but a few.

The perioperative environment includes areas where a patient may be located prior to surgery, during the journey to the day surgery unit, anaesthetic room, operating theatre, recovery, post-anaesthetic and receiving clinical environment, depending on acuity level.

To find out more, read the Safer Moving and Handling in the Perioperative Environment publication, which offers the reader insight into safe positioning of surgical patients and the importance of caregiver safety, whilst considering mitigating risk. The aim of this publication is to improve the handling of patients, especially during their perioperative journey.
