An email I would like to share with all patents/ carers….❤️
Good afternoon,
I am Samantha Kerby-Hall, the chairperson of Grantham Operatic Society and I am writing today to share with you an exciting development for our Society that we believe will be of benefit to students in your setting.
We are delighted to share that our Society will be the first in our local area to host a relaxed performance of ‘Into the Woods’, and we would love to share the details with you. The performance will take place on Saturday 11th April at 2pm.
Relaxed performances are beginning to take the West End by storm and allow inclusivity to all theatre enthusiasts.
A relaxed performance is specially adapted to create a more comfortable and welcoming environment for audience members who may benefit from a more flexible theatre setting. This includes a more informal atmosphere, adjustments to lighting and sound where appropriate, and the freedom to move in and out of the auditorium as needed. These performances are particularly supportive for individuals with autism, sensory sensitivities, learning disabilities, or anyone who would feel more at ease in a less formal environment.
Tickets can be purchased directly through the theatre’s website, and we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment. While we understand this is a Saturday so the formal ‘group trips’ may not be an option we would greatly appreciate this information being shared with the parents and guardians of the students in your school.

In addition there will be a dedicated sensory breakout room available throughout the performance. This space will be filled with calming activities and resources, providing a quiet area for audience members who may need to take some time away from the show.
We are incredibly excited about helping to build a more inclusive theatre community and look forward to sharing the world of theatre with everyone in our area.
