I’m so glad to be working with Caledonia Foot Clinic. It is fantastic to have colleagues who share a passion for healthcare.
World Diabetes Day Post
Today is World Diabetes Day: a reminder of the impact this condition has on lives, families, and communities worldwide.
As a former High Risk Podiatrist in the NHS, I spent years on the frontline: back‑to‑back clinics filled with complex wounds, Charcot foot, and patients facing the devastating reality of amputation. The work was vital, but I often felt the burnout that comes from constantly reacting to crises rather than preventing them.
That experience shaped my mission. I realised I wanted to catch people before they reached hospital doors; to intervene earlier, to educate, and to take a holistic approach to patient management. Because with the right support, many amputations can be prevented.
Podiatrists play a crucial role in diabetes care. We don’t just treat feet; we help protect independence, mobility, and quality of life. Through education, early intervention, and collaborative care, we can change the trajectory for patients living with diabetes.
On this World Diabetes Day, I celebrate the resilience of patients, the dedication of clinicians, and the power of prevention. Let’s keep building systems that empower people to live healthier, fuller lives.
