The Frog and the Scorpion
One day, a scorpion wanted to cross a wide river, but he couldn’t swim. As he looked around for a way, he saw a frog resting by the bank.
“Dear Frog,” said the Scorpion, “would you be so kind as to carry me across the river on your back?”
The Frog eyed him warily. “How can I trust you?” he asked. “If I let you climb on my back, you’ll sting me, and I’ll die.”
The Scorpion shook his head. “Don’t be foolish,” he said smoothly. “If I stung you, we would both drown. I would never do something so illogical.”
The Frog thought about this. It did make sense. So, cautiously, he agreed. “All right,” he said, “climb on.”
Halfway across the river, as the Frog swam steadily through the water, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his back. The Scorpion had stung him.
As the poison spread and they both began to sink, the Frog gasped, “Why? Why did you sting me? Now we’ll both drown!”
The Scorpion replied calmly, “I couldn’t help it. It’s in my nature.”
And with that, they both disappeared beneath the water.
Moral:
Not all souls are ready to act beyond their nature.
Compassion is divine, but intuition is sacred.
True spiritual growth means learning to love others without allowing their darkness to harm your light.
Trust your intuition, set your boundaries, and use your wisdom — not just emotion.
Even kindness must flow with awareness, just as the river flows with balance.
