We had a wonderfully creative morning, getting into the Halloween spirit with some crafts! Our residents enjoyed painting and colouring their festive decorations.
Why Art is So Important for Residents with Dementia....
Painting and colouring are more than just fun activities—they offer significant therapeutic benefits for people living with dementia:
Art can provide a non-verbal outlet for feelings that may be difficult to express in words, helping to reduce anxiety and agitation.
Choosing colours, planning a design, and focusing on the details of the craft helps engage their minds and can improve focus and concentration.
Finishing a project, no matter how simple, gives a wonderful boost of self-esteem and purpose. The process, not the final product, is what truly matters!
Holding a paintbrush or crayon can help maintain hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
Doing crafts in a group setting creates a calm, shared experience that encourages connection between residents and staff.
It was a joy to see everyone's creativity shine through today! Happy Halloween crafting! 🧡🖤
